Talk:September 2014 Feature Pack
Zam article[edit]
this has reference to siege golem mastery and the ability to change commander tag colors should we add it or wait for anet?- Zesbeer 19:40, 13 August 2014 (UTC)
New Player Experience[edit]
"Rewards for leveling have been improved and made more relevant." While this is a great improvement from when I first started playing Guild Wars 2, there is talk in game that the key awarded at level 10 is going to move to level 20 or be removed entirely. For those with little or no income who play Guild Wars 2 this is major disadvantage. With the lack of income to support gem purchases, obtaining keys through key farming is a vital source of gold / gem acquisition. Is there any truth to this that we know of?
Also, if keys dropped as often or just a little less than the BLC's the players would not need to key farm. As it is now BLK's drop rates rival that of Legendary precursors. I would rather level my key character than reserve it for keys. In Beta and on release It was the best thing since sliced bread to have keys drop, even when the BLC's out numbered the BLK's! - The level 20 key info comes from reports from China's GW2 where the key is on the level 20 reward instead of the level 10. I could be wrong, but AFAIK we haven't heard anything from the devs, so we can't confirm or deny whether it will be in ours that way.Vahkris (talk) 18:02, 3 September 2014 (UTC)
- Also, there's already a discussion at Talk:Black Lion Chest Key#September Feature release. —Dr Ishmael 18:05, 3 September 2014 (UTC)
I started a new char just to see what all the supposed hype from Anet was vs. all the negative I have been hearing in map chat, and I have to say, the map chat doesn't begin to cover what they have messed up with this latest "improvement". It appears to be more of the same as every other thing they have tried. Take (on average) 3-5 actually useful things either completely out or F with them so much they now suck, and give us 1-2 mildly useful things. And then, to keep us guessing, throw in the occasionally actually useful thing (acct-wide skins and dyes in this case). I have been playing since launch, and I have to say, the downsides they have introduced far outweigh the pluses. I do not play PvP at all, and hardly do WvW, so my main focus is on PvE maps and experience.
- Hearts (and other map icons) being added/moved/adjusted.
- The movement and added part, not really a good or bad to it - placed under the mildly amusing part.
- The removal of bundles, and the screwing over of stuff you could do to complete a heart - negative.
- The "adjustment" from how the starter area hearts were done, 2 examples specifically this one losing the rifles and this one with the sparks - negative.
- The wardrobe system (from previous "improvement" I know, but still applicable here, because they didn't fix with this update what they broke before).
- Account wide skins and dyes (as I said before), mild improvement (when placed against what was lost in getting them).
- Totally screwing over the people who actually made use of transmute stones while leveling - big negative.
- The forced exchange rate of the lower level stones or crystals - HUGE negative, especially to those people who spent gems on the purchase.
- Not being able to exchange runes and sigils from one piece of gear to another - huge negative. Why have to buy another item that we already have?
- Not being able to mix and match town clothes, and they are now more often than not everlast tonics that take up inventory space - HUGE negative.
- Account wide skins and dyes (as I said before), mild improvement (when placed against what was lost in getting them).
- Trading Post
- Adding up and down arrows to adjust price - mild if barely useful improvement.
- Having the specific itemized cost listed on the screen - mildly useful.
- Seeing the sell and buy lists on the same screen - an actually useful addition, surprising given the past record.
- Losing the projected profit amount - Useful before? YES. Yes it needed some tweaking to be more accurate. Did it need to be totally taken away? NO. The interface is huge now, it isn't like there wasn't space for it. (And no total amount from sale is not projected profit because it didn't take into account the sale costs, as the system partly did before.)
- Losing the ability to easily add items to an existing listing as could be done before - HUGE negative.
- Time spent to sell items before vs. now - negative.
- Other mild tweaks and adjustments were made but do not rate individual entry.
- Leveling a new char.
- Improved according to some
- Trait points going from 5 to 1, mixed feelings, not getting them til a much higher level - negative.
- Not getting skill points 1 per level as before - negative.
- Not getting the skill points you DO get until much higher level - negative.
- Not getting to choose what skills are unlocked being player choice to the degree it was before the improvement - negative. This includes not having the actual skill number spot unlocked the same manner as before.
- Getting more exp per level - improvement, but maybe that was to make up for everything they took away from the lower levels.
- Dailies and monthlies options getting hacked in the interests of "encouraging" people to try other areas of the game - HUGE negative
- Some people have no interest in other parts of the game from what they play, no matter how much you try to force them into it. It just ends up driving them away instead of actually encouraging them to play more.
There is more to list, but it would take even more to post them all with their breakdowns. I am sure much of the "improvements" were made to make money, and there is nothing wrong with that mindset, but how much was lost in the process? Stepping over dollars to pick up dimes comes to mind. 32.212.104.223 20:00, 20 September 2014 (UTC)
- There isn't really a point in posting this on the wiki, which serves for the game's documentation; unlike the forums. Feel free to post it there, where I'm sure you'll get more feedback. --Ventriloquist 20:19, 20 September 2014 (UTC)
- I have posted this there as well. Figure the more people know about it, and stop to think about it, the more people might say something, and the more chance Anet actually might be encouraged to actually fix what they keep "improving" instead of messing it up more and more. And this IS the talk page for the update. 32.212.104.223 20:28, 20 September 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, but as you can see, every single post is about the documentation of the page(s) for the Feature Pack, not the users' opinions or other. --Ventriloquist 20:45, 20 September 2014 (UTC)

- This is a talk page for the article on the update. We try to keep the focus on improving the article instead of discussing its contents, since the latter isn't very productive. ArenaNet does not read the wiki and readers don't come to a wiki to discuss the game, which is why we redirect people to the forums to provide their feedback.--Relyk ~ talk < 21:44, 20 September 2014 (UTC)
collections[edit]
has anyone started on this yet Ill make a sand box on my user page for this if not.- Zesbeer 19:17, 8 September 2014 (UTC)
- I don't think anyone's started AFAIK, but we probably should have 'something' available real soon for people updating information for the feature pack contest. Vahkris (talk) 16:01, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
- The only starting I have done is trying to figure out in my mind how to do it. We will likely need to make a few templates to support it's creation. Each collection achievement will likely need its own page. I was thinking of borrowing some code from {{Wardrobe}} to have the items that are required. In the mean time until we could just have a list of items. In addition to that it might be a good idea to have a item infobox value stating if it is part of a collection. Anzenketh (talk) 16:21, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
- The ones that were previewed yesterday already have their own page, I think that didn't get any opposition. A template to use would be neat though. Tyndel (talk) 16:24, 9 September 2014 (UTC)

Radiant pieces added[edit]
Undocumented: Chest piece and leg piece added for Radiant armor. (see http://dulfy.net/2014/09/09/gw2-radiant-and-hellfire-chests-and-legs/) --Life Infusion «T» 00:39, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
New Crafting Recipes[edit]
New crafting recipes were added to the game of abnormally leveled exotics with unique names and flexible stats that are crafted with newly added inscriptions and insignias. I am updating the existing tables with new items, but I will need help in crafting and recording the new items as they all need to be discovered. Please record any new names you discover on my user page. Dukeplatypus (talk) 03:16, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
- I will be trying to craft some items as well. I will keep you posted. Qiff (talk) 08:17, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
- Some were also apparently moved or removed, such as the celery treat that used to be available from the first heart in the north section of the Norn starter map. 32.212.104.223 20:02, 20 September 2014 (UTC)
