Talk:Recalibrating the Waypoints

From Guild Wars 2 Wiki
Jump to navigationJump to search

I just completed the achievement "Power Squelcher" while only acquiring 16 stacks of the Ley Line Energy Buff, rather then the 20 that the wiki currently states. Since the shield state only lasts long enough for the boss to collect 16-17 stacks at most (from my experiences) and the GUI Leyleecher Power Level bar is full at 16 stacks, I assume this was supposed to be the true value needed for this achievement and the wiki page should be updated accordingly.

Solo[edit]

Just added a walk through to complete this solo. Spacial (talk) 12:22, 29 December 2016‎ (UTC)

Heya, so I'm not entirely sure what exactly you were attempting to accomplish with this, but it seemed like a fairly copy-paste of the initial walkthrough but with added personal opinions and commentary. A walkthrough on the wiki is kept to the facts and strategy. The line of "Revenants are useless" has absolutely nothing to do here, at all. If you wish to re-write the walkthrough in a more neutral tone, and using proper creature naming. -Darqam 15:04, 29 December 2016 (UTC)

I'm not exactly sure what you mean. My addition is original work. It is completely different from the first walk through and moreover, in the first walk through, the line :

If you only want to finish the story and move on, bring friends. This is extremely difficult solo and few will be able to unless they are fully ascended geared and have help.

was included. The Solo walk through was written to answer this very point.

Ventriloquist claims that the quest isn't that hard, especially with elite specs. That is a self defeating point.

The point about Revenant is explained. If you understood the Revenant character you would know this.

Removing a edit, simply because you don't like it is not in the spirit of Wiki. Spacial (talk) 00:08, 2 January 2017‎ (UTC)

The repeated vandalism of my entries is becoming tiresome. If there is any repetition I will have to report this to the admins. Spacial (talk) 10:25, 2 January 2017 (UTC)

Ok so, as per the edit on your talk page, I've removed the solo guide but tweaked the walkthrough slightly. Now the comment "This is extremely difficult solo and few will be able to unless they are fully ascended geared and have help." was removed since it was no longer agreed to be true. Also, the comment about revenants is purely subjective. I play a revenant quite frequently, and even did so for this mission. It really wasn't that bad. The floor geometry doesn't even cause anywhere near the same amount of issues as I've seen in other fights.
The edit was not removed because we "don't like it", it was removed since it added false, or repetitive information. You are free to deposit a complaint on the wiki Admin Noticeboard if you really want to though. -Darqam 17:12, 2 January 2017 (UTC)
I stuck some mediocre exotics on my mesmer, chose weaker specializations, and didn't use food and still completed it first time alone. I can't unlearn positioning and technique, which probably make the most difference here. Just don't stand in the AoE and it's a cakewalk. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 20:01, 3 January 2017 (UTC)
Not sure if it's worthwile, but I also did a run with only 2 armor piece and my weapons on. No traits (except minors). I recorded it here if anyone cares (mute the audio, seriously).
I think the only reason why people would have issues with this fight are the following: 1) People can't manage their dodges/react quickly to aoes. 2) People don't know their class well enough to deal with the different attacks. I did down once (effectively a second time right at the end) so it's not a complete cake walk, but by no means overly difficult. -Darqam 20:19, 3 January 2017 (UTC)
Lol you didn't even use timewarp. I think in fairness to the mission, bashing through the living world achievements once did make me improve a lot as a player. Games aren't any fun if you don't die at least once. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 20:31, 3 January 2017 (UTC)
I agree with Darqam, because when I initially was playing through the story, I was doing it solo as a new player(I think I'd played for maybe 2 months and wanted Mawdry to eat bloodstone dust), and I had no problem with this episode at all. What I did have a bad time with was the last episode of this little part of LWS2 The World Summit, I died at least 5 times doing it, possibly because I was badly equipped(a mish-mosh of greens and yellows I think lol), but mostly because I didn't have much experience playing my character's class, or familiar with the game's mechanics in general, and yes I did read the wiki for help. I went back and replayed The World Summit (solo again only because I wanted to see if I could redeem myself heh) recently for achievements and didn't die once, so in short, having a guide for "playing it solo" wouldn't have helped me when I initially played it because I didn't have a grasp of how to play the game itself, and the same applies for this episode. I will say, if you're going for achievements solo, then perhaps tips for doing so totally works in the achievement section. - Doodleplex 20:54, 3 January 2017 (UTC)
