Looks like this may be an important town in the game. Cress Arvein 01:04, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

Agreed. Rin for the humans, Iron Citadel for the Charr. Calor Talk 01:15, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

I think Charr players start here. I also think there is Humans here but only as slaves and hechmenns. I think humans start in kryta. User:Dam Wish

Yeah, Humans start in Kryta, the Iron Citadel is technically on top of Rin.(marsc 20:16, 20 October 2008 (UTC))

Merge[edit]

2009 August Rin.jpg

I've seen screenshots of both and I don't think the Black Citadel is in Rin - they are two different locations I think. --Santax (talk · contribs) 17:05, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

In the Ecology of the Charr, the Iron Citadel is said to be the capital of the Iron Legion, in the recent news, we're told the Black Citadel is the capital of the Iron Legion. It could be two different portions (Divinity's Reach seems huge, why not the Charr capital?), but I doubt there are two capitals of the Iron Legion. -- Konig/talk 17:27, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
In that case, it's best to ask someone for clarification I think. Any other attempt to reconcile this apparent contradiction would lead to speculation. --Santax (talk · contribs) 17:29, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
+1 for merge as Iron Legion can't obviously have two capitals. Or at least add note to both pages that based on what we know, they're most likely same place. If something is speculation, it's making assumptions based on screenies. User Dave1 Dan signature.jpg talk 17:32, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
-1 for merge Because..

"... Constructed upon the ruins of Ascalon, ..." = Black Citadel

"... It is built in Ascalon, upon the ruins of Rin. ..." = Iron Citadel

Point set and match.--Neil2250 , The Zoologist User Neil2250 sig icon5.jpg 17:42, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
Why does that show they shouldn't be merged? If anything, it shows they should be (almost the exact same info but worded differently). -- pling User Pling sig.png 18:08, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
On second review of my comment.i realy didnt take into fact it could just be a big city... --Neil2250 , The Zoologist User Neil2250 sig icon5.jpg 18:34, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
It sounds like you thought that the Black Citadel is built over all of Ascalon's ruins. This cannot be the case, as that would mean the Iron Citadel was a section of the Black Citadel and that the Black Citadel takes up at least half of the Charr's homeland. The facts we have on the Black Citadel is that it is the capital of the Iron Legion, as is the Iron Citadel (so either a rename or there are two capitals), and we know both are in Ascalon - the later (Iron Citadel) being in Rin. -- Konig/talk 18:42, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
Wait a second.Isent Asclon Swarming with Asclon Gaurd Ghosts? --Neil2250 , The Zoologist User Neil2250 sig icon5.jpg 14:20, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
You're mixing up Ascalon, the entire country, with Ascalon City. -- pling User Pling sig.png 14:22, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
You may have a point thar,so does that mean its build just north of ascalon city? .And hai pling :P --Neil2250 , The Zoologist User Neil2250 sig icon5.jpg 14:25, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
No, the Iron Citadel is built over Rin - west of Ascalon City, and the Black Citadel's location is unknown, just known to be somewhere in Ascalon. The Charr control all of Ascalon except for Ascalon City and the eastern frontier - where the ghosts are - and Ebonhawke's territory near/in the Blazeridge Mountains. -- Konig/talk 21:20, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
You say that comment as if you dont want the merge?--Neil2250 , The Zoologist User Neil2250 sig icon5.jpg 09:22, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

(Reset indent) In terms of location, the merge isn't clear - that is why it hasn't been done yet. But in terms of description and what is believed to be the in-game shot of the Black Citadel (the second trailer's Charr city shot), the two are more or less the same, it would appear at least. I do want the merge (I brought it up), but I acknowledge why it might not be accurate to bring a merge. -- Konig/talk 14:51, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

At the moment im thinking. Why do we need to care about the merge,GW2 isent even out- but then i realise,We are Lore Freaks :3 (And when GW2 is out.im going to visit 3 places ive heard of that i always wanted to go to >_>)--Neil2250 , The Zoologist User Neil2250 sig icon5.jpg 09:02, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
"Why do we need to care about the merge,GW2 isent even out" - The reason we need to care now is so that there are fewer things to do when GW2 does come out. Also, to prevent misconceptions of the game before it even comes out. -- Konig/talk 14:34, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
ok.this is turning into a war now, I personaly dont see the point of the merge, 1,The Game isent Out...2, If we merge, and we are wrong, people may get confused...3,Unless this Citadel is miles wide,it cant be the same thing.Rin is far from Ascalon.--Neil2250 , The Zoologist User Neil2250 sig icon5.jpg 21:34, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
None of them, as far as we know, are built on Ascalon City (as I said above, you're mistaking "Ascalon" to mean "Ascalon City"). Both names are in Ascalon (the region); one of the names is explicitly said to be built over Rin, which was a town in Ascalon; the other is also in Ascalon, but we don't know specifically where. -- pling User Pling sig.png 22:22, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
How is this turning into a war now? No one is being hostile here, and it's not a heated debate either. And point 1 is unimportant (why does the game have to be out to make it worth merging? If that was the case, there wouldn't be a need for this entire wiki until the game came out) and point 3 is incorrect (as Pling pointed out, Ascalon is not Ascalon City). -- Konig/talk 00:41, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
dont wanna sounds like a failure... but... *Gives up convosation about merge* --Neil2250 , The Zoologist User Neil2250 sig icon5.jpg 16:14, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I just re-watched both trailers in the highest definition I could and I noticed three things: Firstly, the large circular structure seen in the first shot of the Black Citadel in the second trailer is not seen in the first trailer. Secondly, there are no ruins to spot in the second trailer (both shots of the Black Citadel). Thirdly, the style in its absolute (color, the gears, the spikes on the walls, the general shape of the structures, some ornate designs) are in both. However, the first trailer which shows the ruins only show about a 150 degree view, and the second shows an even smaller view when showing the giant circular structure in the background. So it isn't definite, but there's a bigger chance, in my view, that they could be separate. Though I'm still thinking they're the same. -- Konig/talk 01:32, 25 February 2010 (UTC)

I can't be sure, but I remember seeing the ruined buildings of Rin in the background in the first trailer, and not the second. --Santax (talk · contribs) 11:58, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
Was that not just poorly built Charr buildings/Ruins of Ascalon Wall?--Neil2250 , The Zoologist User Neil2250 sig icon5.png 16:06, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
Compare this image with this. It does look like Rin in the background. --Santax (talk · contribs) 18:09, 25 February 2010 (UTC)

(Reset indent) It has been confirmed! The Iron and the Black are the same! -- Konig/talk 01:24, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
