ArenaNet Announcement Regarding Balance?[edit]

moved from Talk:Fire Elemental (Thaumanova Reactor Fallout)

I was just curious if there is any official word about the balance being off? For release, the encounter is exactly the same as it was for beta, and I heard second-hand that the balance was off and the event was a known bug (both in beta and now in release). Is there a source to that? Currently, other large-scale bosses work great. If you mess up, you die like you should, but you're also given plenty of warning to react. For the Fire Elemental, the adds will pile up on those who are moving around, and eventually, the ground skills leave no room to dodge out, as the entire area is covered red. The moving players effectively corner themselves. The skills have knock-down, direct damage, and burning, so one hit will kill. Also, you do not get any reward for clearing out the adds that are doing all the damage. The event just seems highly bugged all around. WAZUser Wazwolf wolf.gif 03:10, 4 September 2012 (UTC)

Strongly Agreed on the last part. Anyone taking time and effort into killing the adds, or ressing fallen allies gets minimal reward in this encounter. Would be nice if damage to adds, and number of allies resurrected was taken into account when determining the reward here. They are important parts of the battle. (Countess.3267)
The problems are mainly:
 1. The Embers can create multiples AoEs with no warning. The circle appears AFTER you start taking damage, and it gets even worse with a little bit of lag. Dodge them, and you'll fall into other countless AoEs. Each one should be able to create one of those just one every 5 or 10 seconds at most, not 5 every 3 seconds.
 2. Too many embers are spawning all the time. Defeated players should not count for the difficulty scaling. But they clearly do, since the last 10 times I tried to do this, there were two embers for each player around, COUNTING the over 30 defeated people in the ground. It was insane.
 3. The knockdown attack has no warning. Being knocked down, then seeing the AoE circle, and then being damaged until you get downed just while you are downed is not fun. It takes away all the skill from the battle and replaces it with mere luck. I kept looking up hoping the fireballs the Elemental spits would give some cue of where the AoEs will appear, but they are unrelated. They fall in places where nothing happens, while the knockdowns keep appearing right under players.
 4. The damage is WAY too high. I've seen level 80 players with all put into Toughness and Vitality being defeated in 3 hits. THREE. They should stand at lest 10 in there. If you get knocked down, you are dead. No way around it, and you WILL get knocked down, since you can't dodge it, so you will be defeated.

They MUST rework this event, this is no difficulty for a level 1-15 area. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 18:26, 20 September 2012 (UTC)

Moving page[edit]

moved from Talk:Fire Elemental (Thaumanova Reactor Fallout)

As it is right now, the page has too much Thaumanova related info to move to a more general Fire Elemental page. I haven't fought any of the other ones, so don't know if general advice for fighting all instances of it would be adequate. I would suggest it be "fire elemental (boss)" rather than "fire elemental (foe)" if it is changed. Quickfix 23:47, 24 January 2013 (UTC)

The one in To the Core has completely different abilities, from what I remember. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 00:04, 25 January 2013 (UTC)
It's been a while since I did the To the Core, but iirc, it had similar abilities - just fewer. And was beaten in a way similar to drawing out the Megadestroyer. Still, don't think a separate page for the To the Core one is needed. Konig/talk 00:08, 25 January 2013 (UTC)
It summons Embers and shoots the lava projectiles iirc, the two bosses should be identical as far as skills and model now. The strategy section should be on the appropriate event pages.--Relyk ~ talk > 00:17, 25 January 2013 (UTC)
It looks like the "to the Core" one has lava elementals around it, but doesn't summon anything extra (checked 3 videos). Putting them on the same page sounds ok. Quickfix 00:24, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

page layout[edit]

Previously: "Fire Elemental (Thaumanova Reactor Fallout)"

I tried to follow other page layouts, but I feel it could be more streamlined, like:

Location
*Thaumanova Reactor
** Meta Event: Thaumanova Reactor Fallout
*** event boss Destroy the fire elemental created from chaotic energy fusing with the C.L.E.A.N. 5000's energy core (15)

*Scorchlands
** event boss Defeat the fire shaman and his minions

*Maelstrom's Bile
** Story: To The Core

Quickfix 22:01, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

doesn't the instance area for To the Core have a name?--Relyk ~ talk > 20:57, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
Not sure, just going off the wiki page for it. Also, the videos don't show anything other than "to the core". What do we do with the old Fire Elemental (Thaumanova Reactor Fallout) page? Quickfix 22:01, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
(old I know) deleted. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 17:18, 7 April 2014 (UTC)

Skills[edit]

I was hit by the Flame Wall today, as verified in my combat log and the source was the Fire Elemental (it also used Fire Storm). The embers are doing Lava Font and, also, Fire Storm. This is the meta event in Metrica Province. --Hesione (talk) 23:20, 2 February 2023 (UTC)
