Merging of Gen2, or separation?[edit]
Heya everyone, so a few people are now aware of the issue that there is no pretty nav on the first tier precursor weapons for gen 2 (see Research, Ravenswood Branch, etc...)
My question to you all is this: Do we incorporate the gen 2 into the gen 1 categories (Experimental weapons, and Perfected weapons) despite the naming convention difference, or do we opt for a separate weapon classification (for example tier 1 precursor weapons). Opting for a different classification would yield a nav as seen on The Device, whereas merging would throw them all together in this set, and perfected weapon set.
My personal vote goes towards separating them, but I would like other people to speak about this before I make such a decision. -Darqam (talk) 16:51, 22 April 2016 (UTC)
- Could we have the title for the tables read "Experimental weapons (Generation 1 Legendary weapons)" or something similar, and thereby keeping Gen 1 and 2 on separate tables?
- Or, we could aim for something like {{Specializations nav}} and have them bundled up. This choice will have the added benefit for people who are just browsing through the legendary steps. G R E E N E R 17:07, 22 April 2016 (UTC)
- Although I do enjoy the idea of that specialization nav, I feel that if we put...25(?) weapon trees in there it might get cluttered when they hit 'show all'. I enjoy the current function of the legendary and precursor navs where you see a link to all other (equivalent) weapons, but only the tree for your current weapon. Perhaps renaming the experimental/perfected weapons might work. As much as I enjoy the concept of a clean separation, I feel bad creating a whole new thing for just 4 weapons (because let's be honest, we won't have to deal with more legendaries any time soon). -Darqam (talk) 17:25, 22 April 2016 (UTC)
- Hmm... I'm not a fan of navs that compete with the page in question in terms of size (I'm exaggerating here), thus keeping the nav as compact and small as possible is what I'd prefer. Still, it makes more sense to have both Gen1 and Gen2 tier weapons in one nav -- to have them all in one easily accessible place. Technically, or rather at least visually, the Gen2 weapon tiers can be categorised as 'Perfected' and 'Experimental' weapons either way, thus the name difference is not that tragic. Renaming the navs using more neutral names should work, too, however. Though I cannot think of anything more neutral than what we currently have. :P talk 17:37, 22 April 2016 (UTC)
- I'd love to see them somewhat close together, since the Gen2 T1 precursors have the same visual and mechanical properties, and aside from their Essence component, even have the same crafting recipe. --Hornswroggle (talk) 16:37, 27 April 2016 (UTC)
