Talk:Defeat Tequatl the Sunless

From Guild Wars 2 Wiki

If the event fails, Tequatl will send a giant tidal wave that will wipe out players unless they use the launch pads to avoid it.

It happens if the "Defend megalaser's batteries" event fails. Incorrect formulation. MalGalad 20:13, 17 September 2013 (UTC)
We haven't gotten him that far yet, but note to those who haven't either, etc.. no worries if he doesn't go low enough. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 99.109.161.176 (talkcontribs).

Timer ?[edit]

Yesterday night the first few fights were 1h30 apart, so I changed the wiki according to that. Today it doesn't appear to be the case (last pop at 22h45 GMT+2, it's 0:30 GMT+2 and it still hasn't popped). Any one has an actual working timer for that unponctual beastie ? 88.139.245.5 22:33, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

Walkthrough.[edit]

I have made a rought walkthrough in my user pages using what I have learnt from watching the movies on the net of people beating Tequatl, talking to players who beat him and from myown personal experiance from fighting him in countless overflows (and comming dam close to beating him several times). I was commander Crónus, maybe I had the pleasure of fighting along side some of you. I hope you find it useful guys.

I wanted to put a Walkthrough section on the page but it just turned out to be too long. If someone wants to have a look at it and either make a propper page for it (will have to tidy it up a little most likely) or copy/edit/paste it to a new section on the main page, that would be amazing. Or, if there are other walkthrough pages in the wiki that you could point me to so I can get a look at the page layout, that would be cool too. : ) User Tytan Crow Crow.jpg Titan Crow 19:08, 19 September 2013 (UTC)

The walkthough doesn't have a format, whatever logical grouping makes sense. We only need three sections; Preperation, Tequatl, and the Megalaser. Tequatl will have paragraphs for his attacks, positioning and strategy, then a paragraph for information about each phase.--Relyk ~ talk < 19:12, 19 September 2013 (UTC)
Ok, thanks Relyk. I have added it to the page under its own section, not exactly as you suggested but if you don't like it, you can tell me what to change or feel free to change it yourself. : ) User Tytan Crow Crow.jpg Titan Crow 19:50, 19 September 2013 (UTC)
I defeated him tonight. It works better if you have the zerg to split up: one near each leg. This way both groups of turrets can buff a group of players. This takes at least two commanders. If you agree with this strategy I'd like to update this page. Qiff (talk) 22:42, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
Any advantage to two groups when one group of turrets will work?--Relyk ~ talk < 04:04, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
Imagine if one of those grouprs had 6 turrets backing it, how more well off would it be. Thats the point of a single zerg. There's no befifit to two groupes that i can see that wouldn't be at least doubled by having one conbined groupe. Im not saying its not true though, just that it seems really unlikely to me. I need more convincing. lol ;) User Tytan Crow Crow.jpg Titan Crow 07:49, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
The problem is that blob tends to stand from aside Tequila's leg, and one of the turret groups is unable to shoot that far. MalGalad 08:12, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
Perhaps the turret that can't reach the stack could take care of keeping the other turrets clear of poison. This would allow the others to concentrate on keeping the stack cleansed. Separ (talk) 02:35, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
It's just the most common tactic I've seen. So far I've seen 2 ranged zergs, 2 melee zergs (works even better) or a combination. The advantage of two groups is just that both zergs together have more combined might, quickness, etc. Both turret groups have to keep each other clear of poison anyway, so one turret only clearing poison from the other group of turret is a waste of potential. The Walkthrough was pretty badly outdated. The mechanics section was missing a lot of information, which I've overhauled. The strategy guide itself is very outdated and has not been meta for a long time. I wasn't sure about deleting it entirely, but I did at least add links to more up-to-date and relevant guides. The section still needs some more polish and better linking. Veron (talk) 00:41, 13 November 2014 (UTC)
