win or just complete[edit]

does anyone know if you have to actually beat scarlet for the Invasion Canceler achievement to count, I have done 10 maps, achievement only says 9, but im sure I failed more than 1. Spark Guardian tango icon 200px.png 21:47, 22 August 2013 (UTC)

I got credit for my fifth closing (unlocking Vorpp's story) during a failed attempt. So you get credit regardless if Scarlet is defeated. --Thervold (talk) 21:53, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
then the one time I had a DC spell must have made it not count, that narrows my missing one down to 3, ty for your help. Spark Guardian tango icon 200px.png 22:14, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
I have completed 9 zones yet have only gotten credit for 6. This event is starting to piss me off... not exactly a 2 minute thing. Anyone know what the criteria to get credit is? It seems completely random and it's really becoming a pain as I can't play 50 hours a week just for a freaking achievement.
You need to have at least closed one portal (I don't know whether completing an Aetherblade or Molten Alliance event counts), and arrive somewhat early. There was one invasion for which I completed events, but was only there for the last 11 minutes or so, and it didn't count. 85.169.196.26 08:21, 23 August 2013 (UTC)
I have had another 2 instances where I disconnected during the invasion and I can confirm if you DC you wont get the 13 map achievement credit for the map that time round, subsequent visit to that map gets point. Spark Guardian tango icon 200px.png 07:16, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
It is bugged. I completed 9 maps and only got credit for 7 of them. this post confirms more people are having trouble with it. The only way to make sure you get credit is by killing at least one champion twisted nightmare. Qiff (talk) 13:59, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
got my 13 maps finished, only thing that ever stopped it from progressing was the 3 disconnects I had, it is definitely a fact if you DC you wont get reward, other factors might also stop you though  :( shame I cant test any other theories, I can say however when I got back on in all 3 of my maps I had killed champions of each type and it wont get you back on track. DC = give up for achievement that time :P Spark Guardian tango icon 200px.png 23:30, 24 August 2013 (UTC)

Hope this helps everyone[edit]

Hi guys,

After some careful investigation of these achievements, we believe there are a few technical restrictions and communication issues that are causing the problems here.

First, Molten and Pirate events do not grant achievement credit. This means that if you hop into an invasion right as scarlet spawns, or if you spend an entire invasion on pirate and/or molten events, you will not get achievement credit for that map.

Second, disconnecting during an invasion seems to have some odd effects on participation credit, especially if you end up switching maps in the process (i.e. moving to a different overflow). You should still get credit if you participate in at least one watchwork event after reconnecting, but if you disconnect, you should assume your participation credit up to that point has been lost. This is far from ideal, but it would be a code-level fix, and we wouldn’t be able to get it in before the end of the event.

Lastly, because the previous two issues are not super obvious, people may be losing track of which maps they have already gotten credit for. The meta rewards are always given as long as you’re on the map when it ends. Many players expect this to mean that they also received achievement credit (which ideally should be a reasonable assumption). However, as this is not always the case, they may mark off a map as complete, even though they did not receive achievement credit.

So in order to receive achievement credit, you need to participate and complete at least one watchwork portal event, and still be on the map when the meta ends. It doesn’t matter how far the meta gets progressed, and you don’t need to participate in any Molten/Pirate events.

Hopefully this clarifies some things for you, and many apologies for any frustration this has caused. In the future, we will try to ensure that large-scale achievements like this are more easily trackable to cut down on any potential confusion.

This may help too[edit]

I cannot confirm this but, shortly before I completed the Chaos story line (17 of 17) I happened to mention on the map chat that I had done only 12 of the ones shown on the living story page and yet had credit for 15. I was told that, if you do the entry in the daily achievements that is tied to the clockwork story line, then you get one credit towards the 17. I cannot confirm since I did the final two that I needed shortly after I was told that (I still have not done the fast rescue or the survival actions, and at that time had not defeated scarlett in all 13 areas, but finished the others and had 17)... But it may well be that you can get several extra points by doing those daily activities, which can make getting the 17 a lot easier (it's still good to do those three I had not done, they're worth about 25-50 APs to complete them on top of the APs I already got) --72.196.100.56 08:27, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
