Doesn't 'AFK' and 'BRB' fall under terms that would be considered obvious? Also would the server name abberviations be excessive? --173.79.248.171 03:05, 27 March 2013 (UTC)

And how about "TA AB", "p1..4", the various names of other world bosses (Claw of Jormag is listed twice), "t1...n" (for cultural armors, WvW, ... Kaede (talk) 08:48, 23 October 2013 (UTC)

Missing abbreviations[edit]

missing GH = Guild Hall. Partic = WvW participation. Steve = Labyrinth Horror or Legendary Stavemaster in DS The preceding unsigned comment was added by 205.193.94.40 (talk) at 15:37, 1 November 2017 (UTC).

I can see GH being a good one to add. Partic isn't widely used. Participation is also used and measured in certain PvE maps (notably, Dragonstand). Participation is also used to refer to event participation, which isn't concretely visible to the player. Steve doesn't belong in abbreviations. If anything it'd go as trivia in either of those 2 pages, but the Lab Horror being called steve goes under debate frequently. I've never heard Stavemaster called steve before.--Rain Spell (talk) 03:18, 2 November 2017 (UTC)
I agree with Rainspell on the first two. As for "Steve", it's not an abbreviation, it's just a common nickname give to fans to just about anything they feel should have a name: I've seen Stavemaster Adryn called Steve frequently, there's also the deep sea dragon being called Steve, and it's one of the Lab Horror's many nicknames, so no to that one. - Doodleplex 03:36, 2 November 2017 (UTC)

Missing a lot of WvW objective lingo[edit]

Borderlands: Cardinal-direction objectives like swt (southwest tower), nec (northeast camp), and sometimes nc (north camp, alternatively nnc for north north camp). In addition to the current details entry for "BL", add that "rbl" or "bbl" can signify the color of the world, i.e. red borderlands or blue borderlands.

Eternal Battlegrounds objectives such as kg, anz, pang, ql, etc..

When and where is the line drawn? The preceding unsigned comment was added by Eclipse143 (talk) at 20:53, 1 November 2017 (UTC).

You'll find the WvW abbreviations here.--Rain Spell (talk) 03:13, 2 November 2017 (UTC)
I propose that a superscript is added to the "WvW" entry with a link to that posted by Rainspell above. Or a Note at the end.
Added. Good suggestion.--Rain Spell (talk) 21:37, 2 November 2017 (UTC)

Common Terms[edit]

Doodle has been drawing up a "Common terms" article (see her sandbox here), which would list non-abbreviation player terms. The question is: should this be a separate article, or should it be a subheading on this article? My preference would be to rename this article to Common Terms and have Abbreviations redirect to a "List of abbreviations" subheader here. I think this would be beneficial because it would keep all the unofficial terms to a single, convenient article, and prevent cross-contamination by well-meaning users who didn't realise the other article existed. Doodle feels they'd be better as separate articles due to the abbreviation table using {{abbreviation}}, though I don't see this being an issue so long as the two lists are kept separate and clearly marked. --Idris (talk) 02:06, 11 November 2017 (UTC)
