Heat map of potential rift locations

Stabilize the Rift is an event that occurs randomly around Tyria, most commonly in Fields of Ruin. If you use a Class I Rift Stabilizer or a Class II Rift Stabilizer and use the skill Activate Stabilizer near the event, the event becomes active.

Objectives[edit]

  • Rift Stability
  • Event bar empty2.jpg
  • Time remaining until rift collapses: 5:00

Walkthrough[edit]

Upon activating the event, your weapon skill bar changes to a mix of the skills  A.png A and  B.png B.

Activating any of these skills will cause the skill to flip, i.e. A will become B and B will turn into A. In addition, the adjacent skills will also be flipped, as indicated in the table below. In order to stabilize the rift, all skill icons must be flipped to  A.png blue.

Skill used Skills flipped
1 1, 2
2 1, 2, 3
3 2, 3, 4
4 3, 4, 5
5 4, 5

Tips[edit]

  • The order in which skills are used has no effect on the outcome.
  • Using the same skill twice is the same as not using it.

Example[edit]

  • Assuming your pattern initally looks like this:
A.pngA.pngB.pngA.pngA.png
  • Activating Skill 1 will cause skills 1 and 2 to flip:
B.pngB.pngB.pngA.pngA.png
  • Activating Skill 2 will cause skills 1, 2 and 3 to flip, and make the event succeed:

Notes[edit]

  • A Class I Magic Rift can be opened, starting a Stabilize the Rift event, at each destination available to a Class II Rift Stabilizer (which includes all the destinations available to a Class I). Rifts can also be opened at a number of locations that are not currently available as destinations, such as near the other end of the bridge from Village of Scalecatch in Monger's Sink, or southeast of Dociu Waypoint in Dociu Excavation.
  • Despite not having any rewards of it's own, Stabilize the Rift counts as an event for Map bonus rewards.
