It's infuriating how some try to bend the rules for people who already have more wealth and power than they can use. We're elected by the people to prevent that kind of favoritism.

Aren't all the ministers rich and powerful?

If all ministers came from the upper class, we'd only be serving a fraction of our populace. Those elected are usually key figures in their communities, and that often has little to do with gold.

Are there that many people in the lower class?

Divinity's Reach has many more poor than cities of its size did centuries ago. This is mostly due to the number of refugees that have fled here from outlying Krytan and Ascalonian settlements.
