Guild Wars 2 Wiki:Requests for API editorship

From Guild Wars 2 Wiki
Jump to: navigation, search

The official documentation of the Guild Wars 2 game API is within the API namespace of this wiki. Because of the high relevance of the correctness of this information for third-party application developers, the namespace is locked by default. API editors are users that are granted access to edit articles within the API namespace. This page is to request editing access to the namespace for yourself.

To request editing access, make sure you have registered an account on this wiki and are logged in. Then add the following to the top of the list below, replacing the indicated parts:

; {{user|<username>}}
: <Reason you are requesting access> ~~~~

As the namespace is meant for documentation, you should not apply when you are only interested in promoting particular applications (e.g. your own). You can promote your app here and your wrapper here. Furthermore it is more likely to get access if you have previously shown your editing capabilities by contributing to other parts of the wiki.

I don't necessarily need access, but the information on the https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/API:2/achievements/daily/tomorrow should be updated to match the https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/API:2/achievements/daily page, specifically the 'and/or PathOfFire' should be added The preceding unsigned comment was added by Gmriggs (talkcontribs) at 06:19, 31 August 2019‎ (UTC).
Hey Gmriggs! Sorry for the delay, and thank you for pointing that out. I've updated the page accordingly. If I have missed something else, please let us know. Greener (talk) 20:14, 31 August 2019 (UTC)

I'd like to add documentation for the endpoints added in the last 2 months, as it seems no one else has. eg: account/dailycrafting, account/mapchests, account/worldbosses & that new sub token endpoint. Hitakashi (talk) 07:03, 1 June 2019 (UTC)

Writing an SDK for golang and finding duplicate fields listed in some of the documentation. Willing to fix as I find them if I can edit. Example: API:2/wvw/matches response contains duplicate worlds and victory_points keys. Ngenator (talk) 21:49, 24 March 2019 (UTC)

I would like to update API:2/achievements/daily to include PathOfFire as a possible value for Required_Access and also fix the URL to be active like the rest of the pages. I'm also fine if somebody else is willing to make these changes. FreeSnow (talk) 20:54, 7 February 2019 (UTC)

I think API:MumbleLink needs more information for usability (you need to convert the coordinates to inches to work with other parts of the API, to give an example). Also, I play around with the API quite a bit and would like to be able edit things if I notice anything missing. --Mkalte (talk) 14:17, 23 December 2018 (UTC)

I am a professional developer and a current (and long-time), active developer for the GW2 API. I want to help contribute to the API section as I notice there is a lot of information undocumented, incorrect, incomplete, out-of-date, or does not promote best practice; and because I also notice that this section of the wiki just doesn't get the attention it needs and deserves. I am working on a GW2 notification system to stay inform about some events related to the account or the guilds when the users is offline. The first point that I would like have is an api to access to the items which are ready to be collected in a Black Lion Trading post. In second point, I would like be able to know when a guild event is started. For this second request, I see a simple way which is to add this new kind of log in the guild log api. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 84.14.51.86 (talkcontribs) at 14:07, 18 February 2016‎ (UTC).
You will have to request access while being logged in. Also note, that request to the API namespace does not give you any way to request new API features or ask for help. Use the forums for that. The API namespace is only used for documenting the existing API. poke | talk 19:48, 18 February 2016 (UTC)

The API v2 has changed a lot lately. The namespace needs a general update for authenticated requests using OAuth 2 (maybe a short documentation on how to use it - get/use tokens, scopes and making authenticated requests). And of course documentation for the newly unlocked API:2/account endpoint. It may also be helpful to add the current drafts for new endpoints (API:2/characters, API:2/account/bank, API:2/skills, ...). I lately developed 3rdparty authentication support for WoltLab Community Framework using the new OAuth2 API and want to extend that package with an API wrapper to make requests to all v2 endpoints (including authenticated ones). Eniko (talkcontribslogsblock log)
Noticed that some of the chat link info is kind of clunky, for instance the upper bits you can set on an item ID to indicate skinning and upgrades are written down as plain "replace the last byte with this number" codes when they are clearly flags. Also I would like to add my own app; UNFTimers. The API forum's welcome post specifically says to request access here to add your own software to the wiki, but this page specifically tells you not to. So I'm confused and just requesting access anyway. Eniko (talk) 16:14, 28 July 2014 (UTC)
You can edit the Chat link format page without needing any extra permissions. As for your app, I'm not a bureaucrat and can't grant you editing rights, but if you post your info on API talk:List of applications, I can add it to the page for you. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 13:32, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

Please note that I’m currently working on migrating the original documentation from the forum here, so if you don’t mind please wait before you start editing there. I originally wanted to have it ready before we “opened” but then Stephane just went ahead without really warning me in advance, so yeah ^^" I will probably push the articles live tomorrow. poke | talk 00:20, 8 August 2013 (UTC)
