Frequent edits[edit]

Hey there. Thanks for the great work you're doing over on Shadows Provisions (achievement). I just want to point out, though, you don't have to hit "save" for every little change you make during a single editing session -- you can hit "preview" instead and leave the page open while you do more research. That way, when you do hit save, all your changes will be condensed into a single, easier-to-track edit. :) --Idris (talk) 16:18, 8 October 2017 (UTC)

I've also just noticed that you uploaded a new version of [[:File:Shadow Provisions 16.jpg]] as [[:File:Shadow Provisions 16A.jpg]] -- this is unnecessary. You can use the "upload a new version of this file" button at the bottom of the file history to upload a new version.
I'd also like to draw your attention to this unhelpful edit you made to Track Record. Please don't make edits like this. PoF is still very new and a lot of the edits we're getting are from new contributors, like yourself, who aren't sure what they're doing, so misinformation is to be expected at this stage. If you find an error, just correct it; that would be much more helpful. :) --Idris (talk) 16:49, 8 October 2017 (UTC)
i did correct it but apparently internet dc'd and i later closed browser due to dulfy webpage freeze and forgot about it. i should have saved the page sooner rather then waiting till i was done researching. "save every 5 mins or you might lose everything". is this how u reply? still have no clue or if i'm just talking to myself. :D The preceding unsigned comment was added by The Original Mr T (talkcontribs) at 18:04, 8 October 2017‎ (UTC).
Yup, that's how you reply. :) If your internet is really that unreliable, then fair enough; getting the information up is the most important thing. But it's preferable to minimize the number of edits you make, since spamming edits can interfere with other people trying to make edits to the page. I actually got interrupted when I tried to post this very response because you'd edited your comment while I was typing.
My usual approach to editing when my internet is being uncooperative is to Ctrl-C the contents of the edit box so I can paste my changes back in later when my internet is back up. I might even save it to a file on my computer if the internet is off for long enough. That's also a good way to save your research while you're still gathering info. --Idris (talk) 18:12, 8 October 2017 (UTC)
