Dialogue box formatting[edit]

I formatted the dialogue on the Special Agent Teng page with Character name: because, even though he is the only one speaking, the format is to indicate that his reply is voiced dialogue that shows up as a bubble above his head and in the chat window. Without the Character name: convention, the assumption is his reply is in the standard text-only dialogue box format. Some examples of Character name: being used in dialogue box trees to indicate voiced dialogue can be found at Convergence_(story)#Eye_of_the_North and Taimi#Sun.27s_Refuge (combo of voiced and standard dialogue box replies in one dialogue tree). This was a pretty wordy explanation! Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for all your work on the wiki! - Erianna (talk) 21:31, 23 March 2022 (UTC)

Got it! Could this specific exception of the '''Character name:''' rule be added to Guild Wars 2 Wiki:Dialogue formatting? I don't see any mentions of voiced vs. unvoiced dialogue, bubbles or text chat, regarding Player-NPC dialogue anywhere on the page. I think it would be really helpful having such exceptions documented. —Sp3l (talk) 22:11, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
I don't really know who updates that page or if some amount of consensus is needed to update to it. XD Voiced dialogue is called quotes - this shows up in a bubble above the character's head, but does not always show up in the chat window. Using '''Character name:''' in the way we've been discussing does kind of fit the current formatting rules because the reply is formatted as a quote (using '''Character name:'''), and the quote goes in the dialogue box tree where the reply should be. - Erianna (talk) 06:44, 24 March 2022 (UTC)
Oh... so the "Quotes - Scenes" formatting doesn't only apply to dialogue between two or more NPCs in event and area pages, as that page says. Good to know. Thank you. —Sp3l (talk) 14:33, 24 March 2022 (UTC)

Off-wiki contact[edit]

Hi. You don't appear to have a wiki e-mail set up (or you have your preferences set to not allow e-mails from other users). Could you either set that up, or e-mail me, or if you're on the wiki discord, DM me there? Much appreciated. - Tanetris (talk) 19:36, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
