Character template(s) used on this particular page[edit]

As Shew intends to delete his character template that you are using, I have copied it over, with minor modifications to "User:Konig Des Todes/Template/Character2". I will make a couple future alterations to the biography section and skillbar, which can be seen here and here. Feel free to switch to my version of the template if you still enjoy that template's style over Shew's other templates. Konig/talk 06:16, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

I've changed to your template König & tried to copy all the additional tags you have added. Does it matter if I didn't copy all? Gorani 06:48, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
Not really, those things will just not show up. I haven't removed anything (I think), only moved things around, so even if you didn't copy any of the new parameters (there should be only 3 iirc), it won't be messed up or anything. Konig/talk 06:59, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
I've worked on the templates König used/created and tried to customize them, so they fit my style & taste. I hope you will like them, too. If you find some broken stuff - I am no expert in this - please leave a message, perhaps you can solve the problem for me, too. Gorani 17:44, 8 August 2011 (UTC)
Just want to let you know that the template of mine that you use here will be changed soon to what can be seen here. If you prefer the current format, please copy-paste the code that's here to a new page under your user-page.
Also, the link for the image above "Backstories" is incorrectly typed - you have one too many "User:" in is. Konig/talk 19:26, 11 September 2011 (UTC)

User images (solved)[edit]

I could have sworn I said this before, but anyway, in the future, please tag all user images with Gorani to allow for proper categorization. Aqua (T|C) 17:00, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

You might have said that, but to me? Anyway, where do I put that tag? In the "Summary", when I upload the file? I vaguely remember there was a checkbox once (and I searched for that when updating files yesterday, but perhaps it was on another version of the wiki or the GW1 wiki) that tagged a file as "user content". I tried to find info on that subject, but could not find any on the Help Center, the FAQ or via a search. If there is any documentation, it is well hidden and not easy to find for people like me, who don't work with wiki stuff every day. Gorani 17:19, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
To put it in the summary is OK. And plz, do not try to explain why you didn't, we all don't need to know. 110.88.37.42 17:32, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
Hi, Gorani--I believe the page we're looking for is GW2W:Image formatting, which can be manually navigated from Community portal-->Practices and Processes-->Image formatting. Hope this is useful; I'm sure I'll have to be reminded of it at some point, too. :) Redshift 17:57, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
Problem solved, case closed I guess. --Gorani 12:27, 20 September 2011 (UTC)

Leaving this here (solved)[edit]

As you probably wouldn't read it on the talk page for the page I wanted to point at. On this page, you used "main-hand" and "off-hand" as indicators of the hand used. The correct use in these cases would be without hyphens; "main hand" and "off hand." I am only stating this because its a personal peeve of mine and it is a confusing subject in general. :P
An easy way to remember which variant should be used is to imagine what you'd like to say: "a main-hand weapon is equipped in the main hand." The hypen is only used when appointing the "handedness" of an object, but never used when appointing the actual hand. ;) For an overview of various examples, you can refer to the brief documentation here.
Other than that, very nice page you have there. Definitely inspirational! Happy wiki-ing! :) - Infinite - talk 12:06, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

I will change the "handedness" when I find it in the texts, but have to point out I am using Noxx's template as the foundation for the table, so you might want to pike him too. *grin* When I take a closer look at the guidelines you have linked I see I might have to change my armours too... and my caps on the races and professions. Not sure I like that, because they refer to game specific items similar to skills IMO. --Gorani 13:17, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

Dynamic gathering list[edit]

A few days ago you asked me about the possibility and realization of such, to which others and myself replied to assist where everyone could/hoped to. I have since archived my talk page and for reference (if you require any reference at all, of course) the new location of that discussion is found here (please note that I archive by year, so the page is about 0.2 mb in size, in the event you wish to access it with any mb-limited internet connection). I am going to set up a little experiment to realize such listings right now, as well. :) - Infinite - talk 12:43, 20 September 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the re-direct. I do not think I will engage in that project on my own right now, but I am still interested in the outcome of any project like that. I still hope Noxx will push forward with transferring the template he has used for dynamic skills for dynamic traits. I wrote down some ideas for that on my User:Gorani/Explore page, but haven't tried to alter his table/line template myself. --Gorani 13:07, 20 September 2011 (UTC)

that[edit]

Hey there! I'm A F K, a helper on the wiki. I stumbled upon your page and, should you still be interested, would love to assist you with the template.

I've made a preliminary stab at it over here. I deliberately left it at three traits, so that I could showcase three minorly different styles. Which do you prefer? The second one? The third? The second one, except the first one each time a trait is seen first? These are all equally quick and simple to implement.

Totally up to you. It is, after all, for your page and not mine. ;) If there's any other alterations I can make to it, just shout. My effort is wasted if you don't like the final version of it. I'd much rather spend two hours on a template you love than one hour on a template you can barely tolerate. (Those times were made up on the spot, and are excessively exaggerated.)

Which traits were you going to list? Due to the design of the table (and as it's more helpful), I was planning on expanding my first draft to include the relevant traits, and either save it where the first draft currently is, or directly add it to your page. Again, where I leave the finished copy of it is your call.

One final thing. I've guessed that this will only be used on Elementalist traits, and won't regularly (if ever) be changed. So I wrote it with that in mind - customizable templates like the ones Noxx originally created take far more time to prepare. Adding non-Elementalist traits (and colours, etc.) is quick 'n' easy, but the code I used means it isn't the most elegant template to edit.

The reason for this is you're editing the template itself rather than changing the values of certain variables. While this may be good if you're interested in learning about templates, it's a little ugly to play with. It's also deliberately done in a rather basic fashion, so it should be reasonably intuitive since you like learning from the work of others.

If you would be regularly changing the traits displayed, please let me know, as that means changing it rather drastically - which is no problem and still relatively quick to do. Or, if you like, simply dropping by my talk page and leaving me a message with any changes you'd like done is also an option. It'd make me feel important and popular! :D

Leaving you this to avoid confusion[edit]

Hello Gorani,
As I am typing this comment up, I am in the middle of the category tree reorganization. One of the categories tagged for deletion is the GWO category. Normally I would put no effort into contacting anyone about categories tagged for deletion, but in this case there is quite a bit of text on the page. It would not sit right with me to just paste the tag over it, nor would it sit right with me to leave it to you to retrieve the formatting for that page for possible user pages to carry on the listing in the future. Thus, I will add the complete formatting of that category page here and you can decide what to do with it.
Happy Wiki-ing! - Infinite - talk 13:59, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

A small note[edit]

Here you say that "During character creation, elementalist characters must decide which of the four elements they prefer the most. This choice will reflect in the personal storyline of the character played." That's not necessarily true; as of our current knowledge of the game, the profession question has solely aesthetic effects. Aqua (T|C) 23:27, 10 January 2012 (UTC)

Made a small change to that sentence. --Gorani 14:55, 11 January 2012 (UTC)
