User talk:Ee
Is it proper to copy relevant parts out of GW1 to replicate here? For instance, pages like the GW1 page on 'Languages of Tyria' - is there any crosslinking between the two? 10:02, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
- For the most part we try to keep the information on the two wikis from being redundant, and use Template:Gww to refer back to GWW. 10:22, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
Should Mini-dungeons get their own new category? Couldn't find how to do that, or if we're allowed.09:55, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
Keeping track of massive discussions[edit]
It gets tricky, eh? :)
I just wanted to drop in to thank you for giving us your feedback! If you don't mind me saying so, the wiki's unlikely to pick a committee and limit itself to a set number of proposals as the entire idea of wikis is that anyone can get involved and try to help. The two are a little at odds - and nobody would like trying to help out only to be told "sorry, we have 3 ideas already".
Also, we're in a strange situation, given that we're a wiki about an unreleased game. Before the game comes out and the floodgates open, it's worth it (in my opinion - do you disagree?) to spend time getting things right so that we're still happy with the final result a year down the line. I figured I'd poke you here instead of responding there and probably being drowned out in a sea of comments from everyone and their pet dog.

Necromancer skills[edit]
Regarding the recent changes you made to some Necromancer skills, I wonder where you got the information? Did I miss something and there was a beta event last weekend? Gnarf 15:31, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
- there was the recent interview with Jon Peters; i didn't implement the changes that are on the luna atra tool because i don't know where they got that.--Ee 15:56, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
Input welcome[edit]
I've started a section on the RFA talk page about how to get a clearer view of the candidate by changing the format a bit. Care to input what might help you get a better view of the candidates? --JonTheMon 21:22, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
- No pressure, by the way. Just informing you and curious about your thoughts. --JonTheMon 21:27, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
Naming?[edit]
Ello! Glad to see another explorer 'round here. I'm noticing that you're not spacing the file names--might I recommend that you do so or name it something like 'Farshore Ward map' to keep it all organized? Redshift 10:57, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
- Oh darnit. I just uploaded them all. Will re-upload because 'm going to give coding interactive maps a shot. --Ee 11:02, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
- Haha, well, just something to keep in mind :D. I figured I'd just chime in in the name of organization and good naming convention--thanks for the shots, though! Redshift 11:15, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
This is why chat logs are blacked out[edit]
Nice W7 username. :p Mediggo 10:10, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
- i don't mind the other info, but i'll black out isendra's.--Ee 10:16, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
Wiki for dummies[edit]
I just looked through that project of yours and would like to say that I kinda approve it. I agree with you on that there just isn't enough help articles on editing within this (especially templates and more advanced coding), though that information is definitely available from MediaWiki or other sites. But one can still always rely on others users for help, especially on those listed as helpers, and doubly so on those who have listed as code helpers. :) Don't abandon your project, if you still feel any attachment to it... It could turn out something nice and helpful for new editors. Mediggo 10:59, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
Mapping at next BWE[edit]
Hey, EE. Saw you were going to do mapping and collecting NPC on BWE task list. I was going to work on that too. Do you want to pick a city so we are not doing the same? I already have a lot of area map shots of Divinity's Reach from last time, just haven't gotten to them yet.Kenrid 18:30, 13 May 2012 (UTC)
- Sure, go ahead and take Divinity's Reach, i have other stuff i want to check as well. I'll do Hoelbrak then? --Ee 18:46, 13 May 2012 (UTC)
- Sounds Good Kenrid 01:24, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
Variable prices[edit]
I'm glad you started the discussion at talk:food about why we've been seeing different prices for certain items. However, let's try to keep the conversation to one talk page, instead of starting it up on several articles. Multiple threads makes it more difficult to come to any conclusions/consensus and forces us to rehash the same arguments.
If you want it to get more attention, it might be appropriate to {{move}} it to talk:vendor and/or put a note on the community portal. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 14:49, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
Your signature image filename[edit]
It should be "User Ee sig.png" and thus needs to be moved. Wanna do it yourself? I could do it myself but figured you'd like to do it as you must also correct your signature file link. Mediggo 07:18, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
- I moved the file and altered the existing links. I assume you are subst:transcluding your signature from User:Ee/siggy in your signature settings, in which case you're all good to go. - Infinite - talk 08:05, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks guys! - although i just read that transclusion is a no-no for sigs; i just adapted the signature settings. --Ee 08:31, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
- Oh, right, I forgot the subst: prefix doesn't work for regular pages. My bad! - Infinite - talk 08:41, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
- One more thing: The image is one pixel too high – max height for signature images is 19px. You can reupload/edit the image itself or simply add |19px after the filename extension. This probably sounds silly, but too high sigs can break layout and people will come after you for it. :p Mediggo 08:44, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
- Actually, you *can* transclude signatures from your user space; by using {{safesubst:User:Ee/siggy}} you will transclude the signature, and it will be turned into code locally. An example;
- {{safesubst:User:Ee/siggy}} results in Ee
- Happy wiki-ing? :P - Infinite - talk 08:52, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
- I swear that ever since i started using this wiki, my poor two braincells doubled in size. I'm just hoping they can survive all the stress. --Ee 08:55, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
- So while we're here... what is the difference between subst: and safesubst:, exactly? Mediggo 09:09, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
- The safesubst: modifier
- I just realised that I typed my subst: version incorrectly earlier. subst: also works (and results in the same, currently). - Infinite - talk 09:29, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
- I read that. I read it again. Hey, i read it again! I'm not stupid although it's true i have plenty of blonde moments, but i didn't understand a thing of that entire paragraph. My sig works though, and that's what counts *pets good siggy* --Ee 09:35, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

TY for feedback[edit]
You suggested (here) I make a topic in the beta forums Ummm... This may sound /doh... But the only threads I can find are: Forum Code of Conduct, Getting Started, Keyboard and Mouse Controls, Question/Answer Mode: Explained.
- I don't see any posts from players.
- I am registered with the forum, but have not yet been in a BWE.
- On the homepage (top-right corner) it says, "No Character Selected".
- Do I have to have created an in-game character BEFORE I can access threads from other players? TY for any insight you can give.
Additionally, I grabbed some stuff from your "Wiki for Dummies". No promisses, but I may be able to provide you with the things that I have been learning along the way as well. Frostty1 16:22, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, the beta forums only come up shortly before the beta weekends start and are closed again a day or so afterwards. When you can log in, you'll automatically get your username assigned to you that is your login name (the one with the 4 numbers). Only at release the forums will stay open and then you'll be able to post under one of your character names.
- And that wiki for dummies is far from ready! I have no time for working on it further at this time, but if you have any ideas, you're welcome to go ahead and implement them. --Ee 17:56, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
- LoLz! Ok, good to know that! I had been wanting to ask someone, but I didn't want to look a fool... IF there was some obvious link that was just not registering on me retinas. It would have never occured to me that the forum was ONLY open for a limited time. Frostty1 18:43, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
- Don't worry about lookin' a fool--we all were and are and will be. :) If I recall correctly, at some point in the very recent past (perhaps yesterday's Ask Me Anything reddit), Regina (a community manager) mentioned that the forums would be opened up a few hours prior to the start of the BWE (so some point tomorrow morning/noon depending on your time zone). And yes, the forums are closed after a beta weekend so that the team can go through them and begin to consider all the information and issues that were posted during the beta event without having to deal with moving information targets getting buried under new threads. Hope this helps. Redshift 18:53, 7 June 2012 (UTC)

Dead birds and stuff[edit]
I'm gonna read those stories more thoroughly when I'm not busy, and I'd love it if Scythra or you fixed those lowercase I's before that. ;) Mediggo 08:53, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
- hahaha! well, i find it wrong to capitalize the "i", as if you're the center of the universe and not just a small insignificant i. It's only english that does that, i think. --Ee 11:44, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
- What an unexpected opinion. ;) As you probably know, all nouns are capitalized in German, and I'd perhaps argue that it can help understand the context better in some cases, though I don't know the true reason for either that practice or why 1st p. self pronoun is capitalized in English. My old teacher just said that "the English just love themselves so much they capitalize it." :P Still, I prefer writing (and reading) the proper grammar of whichever language. :) Mediggo 12:01, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
- I is capitalised because it was derived from the long-gone word "ic" a (very) long time ago. "Ic" was also pronounced differently (closer to the German "ich"), so once people started to pronounce "I" more like we do nowadays, the c was dropped from the word. Just an "i" looked weird because "i" is a measly letter that doesn't stand out in any sentence. It is for that reason that we use "I" in any English language. I think the internet may have some more elaborate sources, though. - Infinite - talk 12:11, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
