Template talk:Image request
+Parameter: User Interface[edit]
Shall we continue this practice from GWW? Yoshida Keiji (talk) 14:20, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
- I'd say this template is only marginally useful. It doesn't categorise images - so it doesn't help with navigation or easier discovery of such images. I need to use the "what links here" link. Anyone viewing the article using this image won't notice a thing, so again, it doesn't really help bring attention to the image. I would say it's much better to have a running project to improve the quality of screenshots than just simply tagging it. Three of the supplied "default" reasons should never be applicable - jpg, png, crop - these are just being lazy. Infinitely more useful to just do what's needed than telling other people to do it. -- ab.er.rant 07:48, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
Categorization[edit]
Hey,
So I've been looking through some of the images, and noticed that, at this point, it seems no one really makes use of the first parameter; and instead just uses their own 'additional details' parameter. Would it thus be possible to make parameter 1 a classifier such as NPC, location, object, weapon, armor, etc...? If not replacing parameter 1, maybe adding a 3rd one to allow for the classification?
Category:Image update requests is getting cluttered these days, and splitting the image requests into sections, such as Category:Stubs might be a nice solution. I think the best way to do so, would be to add such an option in this template. -Darqam (talk) 18:09, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
- Sounds like a good idea to me. Fund it...erm...make it so! - Doodleplex 21:12, 9 July 2016 (UTC)
