Ungent? Not Unguent ala GW1? --Sirrush 01:01, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
- Yay my favourite ranger skill from GW1 is back. It feels classic to me. - Giant Nuker 01:59, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
- Agreed, even if this isn't the best heal in the game I might just carry it all the time because I always loved the original. 69.121.219.6 23:10, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
- Well, I was already sure I was going to use this one, but now I read it heals both you and your pet outside of a boon... Yup it's time to Troll in a most unguent way?77.166.207.18 22:08, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

charge?[edit]
will this be a charge skill or just a regular heal over time skill? Getefix 18:10, 25 March 2011 (UTC)
- My educated guess would be that it's a charge skill (or something else that gives you effects outside boons), rather than granting the boon "regeneration". Why? Because if it gave you "regeneration" for a time, this would be wildly outmatched by skills like Healing Signet. Sure, Healing Signet is a Warrior skill, but I don't think Anet will deliberately make Rangers have vastly inferior healing skills compared to Warriors.--Tuomir 00:48, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
- It should work like in GW1. You take a sip of troll unguent and let it take effect over time. Which could be a charge time of ~3 seconds. Oh, and there is more than just type of healing when it comes to balancing healing skills. Like length of effect, energy cost, recharge time and traits. Mediggo 05:39, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
- An unguent is actually spread on the skin, not ingested. I'll be interested to see how this one works in GW2. I think in GW1 it was one of the most energy efficent heals in the game, in terms of total health recovered vs energy cost. Zomby138 08:25, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

Trivia[edit]
I very much dislike the definition of unguent as a "trivia", and I feel like that the "this references lore" isn't really that necessary either. Aqua (T|C) 19:52, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
- I suggest keeping the unguent definition (like with the definition of elixir on the collective elixir article), since many will be clueless about what it means and it is meaningful trivia. However, I was not aware of any Guild Wars lore about trolls having regenerative properties. Can someone please clarify that part for me? - Infinite - talk 20:03, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
- I personally dislike both lines. - Bitter 20:38, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
- Nothing in GW1 lore (except maybe trolls using the skill?), but Troll creatures in M:tG all seem to have the "regenerate" ability. I don't see why it's worth keeping, but unguent is a very obscure word which I have never heard outside of this context, so I could go either way with it. --ஸ Kyoshi 00:43, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
- wikipedia:Troll_(Dungeons_&_Dragons)#Typical_physical_characteristics: Trolls are infamous for their regenerative abilities.
- This happens in a variety of other games, too, such as Icewind Dale (D&D universe) and Dragon Age (Darkspawn ogres can regenerate in a similiar way). In games trolls often have this kind of regenerative trait, and/or weakness to sunlight, which turns them to stone (mostly from Tolkien's works and Norse mythology). Ever heard of the saying, "Kill it with fire!"? Mediggo 13:43, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
- I guess we need to keep both bullets then. The three combined complete the trivia section, as well. - Infinite - talk 14:42, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
- I'd say remove or rewrite. This page looks like an example of a wiki that's undergoing trivia hell. --Riddle 15:02, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
- I agree that we cannot have a double standard in regards to definitions. Perhaps comparing it to a more known word like salve or ointment would be more appropriate. Thus it would not be a true definition but at the same time people unfamiliar with the term would understand it more. Perhaps something like:
- An unguent is similar in use and preparation to a salve, a healing aid —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Venom20 (talk • contribs).
- ...I hate trivia, and this is only one of the reasons. I think it should be re-written slightly, but it should maintain the fact that "troll regeneration" is a reference to a common trait for trolls in many other games - most notably in DnD (which is already mentioned). Some of the Anet developers have some strong DnD background also, so the term is influenced there as well. --Xu Davella 01:33, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
- I just copied the trivia from gw1w, but i do agree that it sounds better now. Jnew 20:07, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Activation Time[edit]
This has a 1s activation above water, and 1/2s below water. How should this be shown? — Skakid 13:39, 26 October 2012 (PDT)
GW1 skill also Feedback 2015/08/28[edit]
There is a skill with the same name in Guild Wars 1 for Ranger that gave rapid regeneration. --BlackAnthem (talk) 18:45, 28 August 2015 (UTC)
