Talk:Strike Mission: Whisper of Jormag

I have not seen the ranged method mentioned in the walkthrough attempted, but I don't agree that the encounter is "brutal" for melee. In fact, the boss is very vulnerable to focused melee damage and, as ever, grouping up on the boss enables shared boons and heals.

He goes down pretty straightforwardly provided the group knows to stop DPS and split to the edges of the arena for the aeriel bombardment, chains and orbs phases. If everyone does this and, ideally, those with chains move close to the boss in a straight line, minimising the length of the chains, damage in these phases is pretty limited and easily healed by 1 healer when people group up on the boss again afterward.

The biggest problems I have seen is several players staying at range, not healing on the boss between attacks and going downstate in a 360 degree arc, making it almost impossible for the healer to get to them all before the next bombardment/chain/orb phase.

Also, remind people to focus on the breakbar, esp. including using the special action skill, if you do not have a lot of hard cc slotted, when the blizzard attack starts, even over healing.

But, I'd be interested to see the ranged method work!

I agree conditions are not an issue in this encounter. Only straightforward heals and regeneration as well as blocks and protection are needed. --Jong1 (talk) 13:25, 2 February 2020 (UTC)

Feedback 2020/02/05[edit]

As a follow up to my discussion entry that maybe should have been here, been doing this daily since it dropped and I've still never seen a "ranged condi" effort. Don't deny it's probably possible but most are using melee with quickness and one heal.

There is little problem for melee provided they stay out of the hitbox, where all the chains and orbs combine and provided everyone is aware of the chains and orbs and avoids.

In chain phase people with chains need to not move left or right to make it easy for the others to stand in the gaps.

Everyone also needs to briefly scatter to edges for the icicle and orb phases but then reconverge for boons and heals. Scattering for the icicle phase avoids overlapping AOE damage. If lots are in the same place it can be tough. Scattering to edges for orbs makes avoiding them easy. --Jong1 (talk) 17:54, 5 February 2020 (UTC)

Are you sure about Whisper Boxing? If so, the achievement description in game is wrong. It makes no mention of the story mission. --Jong1 (talk) 11:00, 8 February 2020 (UTC)

Yes, Whisper Boxing is related to the story NPC "The Whisper of Jormag." I have never entered this strike mission, but I have the achievement from the story. ~SimeUser Sime Maraca Choya.pngTalk 14:21, 8 February 2020 (UTC)
Cool, OK :). I have done both and was going off the description (which normally says when it's story based). My mistake --Jong1 (talk) 15:32, 8 February 2020 (UTC)

Slithering Rime[edit]

Which is the Slithering Rime attack for the purpose of the achievement? --Messenger (talk) 17:51, 15 February 2020 (UTC)

I went for the achievement today and going on what I experienced it feels like its the orbs he shots out in the last 25% phase not the orbs he shoots out in the first 100-75% --Dapper Shark (talk) 22:19, 15 February 2020 (UTC)
