So close! I was hoping for this to be a GW1 Derv skill, turns out that the Derv skill is named Meditation... --AdventurerPotatoe User AdventurerPotatoe sigimage.gif - 00:18, 16 March 2011 (UTC)

Pop Virtue of Courage to protect allies, pop Virtue of Resolve to heal allies, use Mediation, buff yourself with a Virtue of your choice - rinse and repeat every 2min? Goatzilla 13:16, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
It effectively drops the recharge of virtues by 30 seconds. --Xu Davella 14:58, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
AdventurerPotatoe, while the Guardian is the successor to both Monks and Paragons, according to this he plays like the Dervish. --Messenger 16:56, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

Not sure the proper protocol, but as of 26-Mar-2012 this is an elite that grants invulnerability in addition to recharging all your virtues (see: http://youtu.be/8gcyCuJn6kA?t=8m ). 135s recharge. --173.48.32.219 18:03, 26 March 2012 (UTC)

Worthiness of Elite status?[edit]

Honestly, it seems really mediocre. There are a number of other skills that grant short-term invulnerability, which this would inevitably be; another shot of virtues every ~2 mins is pretty weak imo. Definitely not on par with the power of the other guardian elites. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.20.35.161 (talk).

Well, if it wasn't an elite I guarantee you this skill would be on every Guardian's skill bar, seems triggering a Virtue confers so many bonuses when you look at the Guardian traits. That's probably why they moved it into the elite slot, and added the invulnerability clause to make it worth the slot. Likewise, Sanctuary was an incredibly mediocre elite skill and would have seen no play as one (more or less completely overshadowed by Tome of Courage, which fulfilled the same function with similiar drawbacks but better) and makes more sense as an utility skill, so having the two swap status just makes sense. 82.11.226.30 16:55, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
Completely agree with the above. 70.44.197.217 19:05, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
> How long is the casting "time" Ie: How long are you "invulnerable"??
AND... What happens to any invulnerability... if you get the 'Focused Mind Trait' (Meditations are Instant)???
> Doesn't that mean that getting the F.M. Trait actually WEAKENS this "Elite"?   Frostty1 12:32, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
That most likely changes casting time to instant. The effect can still be expected to last its full duration because it wouldn't make sense the other way around. Casting time =/= duration. Mediggo 12:51, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
Mediggo... Make sense much? There is no ambiguity in the description of the 'Focused Mind' Trait. If a player chooses that Trait, of COURSE the casting time of Renewed Focus will be instant.
BUT since the skill description says, "Focus making you invulnerable and recharging your virtues."
AND since the Notes say, "You are only invulnerable while casting this skill."
> If you choose the 'Focused Mind' Trait and there is NO CASTING TIME... it logically follows that there would then be NO INVULNERABILITY. Mediggo... when you say, "The effect can still be expected to last its full duration"... are you awkwardly trying to postulate that, even though the skill is cast instantly... you would still be invulnerable for the original amount of casting time?? If so... my original question still stands. There is no listed 'casting time' for Renewed Focus. How long are you invulnerable?   Frostty1 13:23, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

When I wrote that note, I didn't test Focused Mind. So I don't know if you're only invulnerable while casting in general. Without the trait, you're invulnerable while casting. When casting is finished, the virtues get refreshed and you're no longer invulnerable. Gnarf 13:33, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

Then it could be expected that you are invulnerable for the duration of normal casting time. That would seem reasonable, at least, considering the effect and recharge of elite... If all the numbers, skill type and effects of Focused Mind are up to date (are they?), then I'd think it has been ArenaNet's oversight to not rebalance this skill. As commented above, it seems rather weak even with invulnerability effect. Mediggo 15:31, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
Not a meditation any more, Focused Mind does nothing to it. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:ShadowedRitualist (talk).
Thanks for clarifying. :) And remember to sign your comments. Mediggo 07:46, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
