Salvage Failure?[edit]

I salvaged an Exotic Rabid Pearl Impaler (using a Black Lion Salvage Kit) and did not receive a Rabid Orichalcum Imbued Inscription. Any idea why not? Separ (talk) 00:04, 21 April 2014 (UTC)

It's possible that you can't salvage it from something crafted with an inscription, but only rabid things that aren'tt crafted. I'm not 100% sure about this however. It is also possible that the chance of receiving an inscription is not 100% even with a black lion kit. Have you used black lion kits to get inscriptions before? Is the chance 100% in your experience? Psycho Robot (talk) 00:17, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
You have a chance to salvage the inscription. iirc it's not 100% with BLSK (I failed to receive inscriptions before).--Relyk ~ talk < 01:32, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
Right, it's only a chance to get the inscription, even with BL kit. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 02:37, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
In my experience, the rate is less than 50%, but RNG applies as usual. Sometimes you get lucky, so 7 Shaman's items will give you 7 inscriptions; sometimes it will be 0 out of 10. I also want to say you can salvage inscriptions again from the crafted items, but am not positive (I always transmute my stuff so I wouldn't remember if it was originally a crafted skin or a named exotic).
On a related note, the chance to get an inscription or insignia seems to be independent of the item type. You can't get them from accessories, amulets, rings, or backpieces, since those aren't crafted (yet) using inscriptions or insignias...but otherwise it doesn't seem to matter if you are salvaging greatswords as opposed to torches or whatever. The most efficient thing is to spend dungeon tokens on cheap one-handed weapons, or the low cost armor slots like gloves, if you are specifically trying to salvage for crafting components.
BL kits are still the best to use anyway, though, since the drop rate for Dark Matter is abysmal without using one. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 04:24, 21 April 2014 (UTC)

Crafted?[edit]

Can this insc. be crafted? Daddicus (talk)

No. If it could, the recipe would be here. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 19:01, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
I was afraid you would say that. No wonder they're so expensive.
Thanks! Daddicus (talk)
