Talk:Physical appearance/Human
I guess it doesn't matter much since the creator is obviously still incomplete, but there were more female hairstyles in the demo than are being shown here. Arshay Duskbrow 07:00, 3 September 2011 (UTC)
- The video I extracted them from (Wartower, because it's HQ) didn't show the second pane. :( Aqua (T|C) 15:16, 3 September 2011 (UTC)
- Nevertheless, they are very nice hairstyles. --Xu Davella 00:03, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
Canthans, Elonians?[edit]
I saw nothing about heritage in any of the videos, and I saw no way to make a Canthan looking character. This better be added by release.Yumiko ^,~ 17:15, 4 November 2011 (UTC)
- Technically all human PCs are Krytan, making Canthan and Elonian character creation options redundant. However, I am sure that you can use the sliders to recreate Canthan and Elonian features, if you so desire (and the options won't still be introduced for the initial release). - Infinite - talk 01:01, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
Actually, they did mention that they'd have the ability to say if your character was a descendant from Ascalon, Kryta, Cantha, or Elonia. So while technically they'd be made "Krytans" they'd be descended from, and thus have traits of a Canthan or Elonian. Course people can say their characters come from a range of places regardless of the pre-set starting location. Daefaron98.71.132.162 06:52, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
- I'm nearly positive that is obsolete. Aqua (T|C) 16:56, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
- Not part of the biography, but there'll be changes to the appearance system. They kept it simple during demos because they wanted people to play the game. --ஸ Kyoshi 16:59, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, I doubt that we've seen every option for every race yet. And I hope the bio section does get more options (Like the greatest regret only being not joining the circus, not knowing parents, or not finding sister's body.) Daefaron98.71.138.128 23:00, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
- I could be wrong, but I'm almost posative that current bio questions are final and there will not be any added. --Moto Saxon 23:31, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
- Not saying add in more questions, I mean add in additional answers for some. Course, the Korea GW2 event seems to have more Asian/Canthan looks to the character.Daefaron98.71.129.136 17:45, 8 November 2011 (UTC)
- yes, there are definitely asian models used for the korean demo. eric f posted saying the would elaborate more on that in a series of blogs this week. --Moto Saxon 22:10, 8 November 2011 (UTC)
- They better put that in release. My current gw 1 ele was so out of place with her Japanese name in Prophesies with only Ascalon/krytan appearance. I'm already annoyed enough with things they done in GW 1 mostly bad decisions concerning game-play and the like.

Closest thing to Canthans we'll ever see, but may never get. I believe this to be region locked. Shame on you Anet! I'll still buy gw 2 but I'll not be using any of my old names. Video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7ILe20Sc2c&feature=related.Yumiko ^,~ 21:48, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
- The demo only included limited character customization, ANet said in a GW2Guru post that there'll be other kinds of looks. Because we all remember the discussion about black Norn, right? --AdventurerPotatoe - 22:30, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
- Did you even read the top comment? The devs have confirmed on guru that all appearance options will be available in all regions. You'll be able to make asian-looking characters in the Western release if you choose, so you can stop worrying now. Arshay Duskbrow 22:45, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
- I dont know how you misunderstood me, but you're agreeing with me. You repeated what I said, kinda. ---AdventurerPotatoe - 00:25, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
- My remarks were directed at Yumiko, as should've been obvious. Arshay Duskbrow 03:06, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
- Oh, you should've used one : instead of two then since you replied to Yumiko. In my opinion its kinda confusing.--AdventurerPotatoe - 06:35, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

Uh, no. It's already past release and you still can't make a canthan or elonian looking character. There's only so much the sliders can do. StormcrowX 04:59, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
heritage?[edit]
Has arenanet told us if we will be able to select our human characters heritage (ei: kryta, cantha, elona) during character creation? If so, maybe that choice gives you access to relevant appearance options, such as face and hairstyles. --Moto Saxon 14:26, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
- They had at one point said that heritage would be one of the character creation things. I believe that has since been revoked/repealed/retconned. However, they have said that they will provide faces that make your character look more Canthan (read: Asian). Aqua (T|C) 00:09, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
- They're not going to chain appearance options to any kind of decisions you make about your characters background. You'll be able to mix and match the full spectrum of looks no matter what kind of biography you create. They've made this extremely clear many times now... Arshay Duskbrow 04:04, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
- It would be rather easy creating canthan or elonian appearences with your slide bars. Coz' frankly, if you want to be elonian, you just make a wider nose and darker skins and with canthans you just make you skin more yellow-like and your eyes more pointy. So, actually you dont need canthan/elonian faces to base on. You can customize it. And if you really want to have canthan or elonian background, you could in normal games just say like "Hey, Im from Cantha!", but in GW2, if you really want to go into detail that much (which I usually dont) you cant. Because your storyline will probably often remind that youre krytan. If Arenanet has done a good game, they shouldnt have that. But as of yet we wont know. And while Im still at that point, I tell you that, for example (and if Im human), I have to be blessed by a god. I dont want that! Im an atheist and Id rather stay that way in-game too! You get the idea, so I wont make this text aaall too long and end it here. Lhimez 15:13, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
- Remember, that biography question doesn't say "when I was young, I was blessed by this deity", it's "when I was young, people said I was blessed by this deity". It's only true if you want it to be. Arshay Duskbrow 07:58, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, whatsoever Id rather not be related with the gods in any matters. And when you say that, it comes back to the same point. In normal games you can just say something, if you wanna roleplay, and itd be like that. In GW2 the biography prevents that. However, you could have meant that being more like "You are only blessed if you believe it yourself" and this comment of mine would be totally failed :S Lhimez 14:53, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
- I wouldn't say the biography system prevents any personal character backstory. sure, you might be krytan, but your character's family could have fled from Istan when Joko went on a conquering spree. Or so on. Though, just to point out(as I see it), in a in-character/universe sense, a human can't go "Oh they don't exist." The human gods have been present in pretty noticeable ways. Of course, I don't see anything stopping your character from simply not worshiping Grenth or so on like others. But yeah, just remember that typically any MMO will have some start that doesn't match all characters. Roleplayers can go "My family is from Cantha, specifically we lived on the jade sea." and they wouldn't be bad. Daefaron 74.36.226.4 15:51, 19 November 2011 (UTC)

Limited hairstyles/facial types[edit]
Why Anet? I am dissappoint. Now every other guy looks like an anime character or legolas. Considering GW1 had so many variations, I hope they'll introduce more in future and hopefully a way to change your characters appearance like they have in GW1. StormcrowX 04:57, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
