I'm confused... which skill was replaced with this? 00:46, 28 March 2012 (UTC)

Mesmer staff used to be Chaos Strike, Duplicate, Winds of Chaos, Illusionary Warlock, Chaos Storm.
It is now Winds of Chaos, Feigned Escape, Illusionary Warlock, Chaos Armor, Chaos Storm.
So lots of moving around, Chaos Strike became Chaos Armor, and Duplicate is what was lost. Feigned Escape used to be a greatsword skill and the skill that replaced this there is Mirror Blade. User Mattsta Sig1.jpgUser Mattsta Sig2.jpg 01:19, 28 March 2012 (UTC)

Does anyone know if the illusions that are summoned via Phase Retreat do damage? I understand that the application of Winds of Chaos from these illusions do 0 damage, but will the illusions still be able to stack conditions that do damage? 08:13, 6 July 2012

It's a regular "clone" type illusion, like the ones summoned by Mirror Images and various other skills, so yes. The clone deals damage and can be shattered with the shatter (F1-F4) skills. It has an unlimited duration and using Phase Retreat again allows you to summon multiple clones with just this spell. You are however (as always) limited to a maximum of three active illusions at a time, and the illusions are "bound" to the enemy you had targeted when you cast the spell, and will disappear if that target dies or moves too far away. - Alltat 05:41, 4 September 2012 (UTC)

It might be worth mentioning that this skill can be used during the three second mantra charging period. 13:18, 4 September 2012 (UTC)

...and breaks immobilize. Has anyone tested if it breaks stuns? -- Olive 15:05, 4 September 2012 (UTC)
I can use it while knocked down, not sure about stun.-- 19:02, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
It can be used while imprisoned in a crystal when fighting the Shatterer. You won't take damage from the crystal explosion, but it's got a weird interaction where you'll still be unable to move or use skills for a certain duration (which isn't always tied to the continued existence of the original crystal). 21:42, 3 December 2012 (UTC)

Stun Break?[edit]

The page mentions Phase Retreat to also break stuns. It never did so for me. 09:03, 8 May 2013 (UTC)

Just checked in HotM, it frees you from knockdown and pull, that's a general property of stun breakers. MalGalad 09:15, 8 May 2013 (UTC)
Against "hard" disables like Eaten (not 100% but for example) you can still use the skill to teleport to a random location (and escape harmful AoE, for example) even if it doesn't break the impairing effect. Mediggo 14:43, 8 May 2013 (UTC)
