Two skins[edit]

Why do all these weapons have 2 skins listed? How is it possible to have 2 skins? Additionally it seems the API only shows one (the none slumbering kind). So is there a reason for the extra skin ? -Darqam 21:47, 7 June 2018 (UTC)

The idea Mistforged Obsidian and Obsidian weapons is to give them the current WvW team color theme (the default skin!), so either some red, blue or green. However they also added a skin version of each weapon which doesn't have this flair (colored smoke/parts, whatever), this are the slumbering ones (automatically unlocked upon obtaining the weapon). So unlocking any Mistforged Obsidian or normal Obsidian weapon unlocks two skins. Compare:
Additionally, any weapon notes states:
So on the two Obsidian weapon pages there is also a second gallery Obsidian_weapons#Gallery.
Well, but I think this wasn't exactly your point. The question is: What should the skin parameter in item infobox do?
  • (1) It should display only the default skin (the skin the weapon have intially, the same as the API default_skin), any other skin goes into Notes.
  • (2) It should display all unlocked skins upon obtaining (somehow useable skins, for example: any LWS final armor piece reward unlocks also the other armor class skins which are not directly useable).
Currently (2) is the case, but as far as I understand you might prefer the answer (1). --Tolkyria (talk) 09:09, 8 June 2018 (UTC)
Awesome thanks for all the details. I hadn't noticed those notes on the pages, so my bad on that. If obtaining the weapon does in fact unlock two skins (and not say one skin that can be modified in two ways) then I think the current way of 2 skins in infobox is the best way. I do like to rely on the API generally, but for anything different than the norm it isn't uncommon for the API to be incorrect or incomplete.
Given the screenshots, it does seem to be 2 separate skins, so unless there's another detail I missed, I'd be personally happy with the way it is setup now. I think it will be nice to have a link to the other sister skin on each page though, and an image of both weapon skins on the item page; but that's not work to be changed but rather continues. So thanks for the info and the work ! -Darqam 11:00, 8 June 2018 (UTC)
Some minor remarks: You haven't missed anything, each weapon unlocks two (more or less different) skins.
The first item that came up with two skins was the WvW tier 3 chest armor, i.e. Sublime Mistforged Triumphant Hero's Raiment with six rays as default skin and the just the armor without any fancy rays. There the two skin in the infobox apppeared first (only for the armor infobox to be precise).
Of course each of the weapon pages can be improved, unfortunately there haven't been uploaded any Mistforged Obsidian weapons picture yet. Also the four new Obsidian weapons are missing. --Tolkyria (talk) 14:01, 8 June 2018 (UTC)

Plaguedoctor's stats not available[edit]

Currently it is not possible to select Plaguedoctor's stats from the exotic variants, I assume they are not on the ascended variants either (if someone is willing to bite the bullet and confirm this it would be appreciated, but I think it's safe to say they suffer same fate as every other stat-selectable ascended weapon or armor). The list of prefixes on each weapon site should be updated accordingly. Gahro 20:06, 17 July 2018 (UTC)

One can also check the API for the available prefixes, for example: Obsidian Staff (exotic) and Mistforged Obsidian Staff (ascended) vs The Bifrost (legendary). The legendary staff has the prefix 1484 (Plaguedoctor), while the WvW weapons don't have it, for a list see here. Thanks for mentioning it, I'll try to fix it. --Tolkyria (talk) 12:03, 18 July 2018 (UTC)
Done, all WvW armors (except the legendary) and WvW weapons now don't have Plaguedoctor's as prefix. --Tolkyria (talk) 13:21, 18 July 2018 (UTC)
