Time for a change[edit]

Each profession has a page with a list of its skills. While the pages look cool, I think they have poor functionality:

  • It is difficult to add skills
  • You have to navigate to each skill page to get a description

I would be fine with a simpler layout (ex: utilities, elites, profession specific and each weapon being a subsection on the page, with its skills listed - icon and brief description - similar to gww skill lists). Thoughts? --Moto Saxon 00:02, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

Various contributors are already prototyping the skill lists for the future. The current versions are purely temporary. :) - Infinite - talk 00:12, 18 July 2011 (UTC)
That's good to hear. Any chance of getting one finalized and in place soon? With the gameshows around the corner, we will be getting updated skill info and hopefully lots of new skills. --Moto Saxon 00:36, 18 July 2011 (UTC)
Well, with one of those contributors unavialable for about a few weeks, it wouldn't feel right to discuss it on short notice. And with the last profession to be revealed still, as well as the category tree still to be fully reorganized, the underlying systems for automated and functioning skill lists are still sort of lacking. I think that when -mainly- Aquadrizzt and Erasculio have their sandboxes filled with the prototype templates, we can start discussion with some ground to work up from. Of course we can also open discussion now and have an RfC on the community portal for a month (or 2). - Infinite - talk 00:59, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

Pig Skills??[edit]

This morning was watching a Yogscast's video and the PJ is transformed into a pig with his own abilities. How do you consider that? Environment? Lasha 09:58, 20 April 2012 (UTC)

From what it sounds like, I'd suggest it under Transform (and Category:Form skills). Please feel free to correct me. Redshift 10:37, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
hmmmm. Of course! It's a mission in a cave. Later, now I can not, I'll let the video so you can analyze and take good images and skills ;) Lasha 13:45, 20 April 2012 (UTC)

Tiers messing up our setup...[edit]

So, now we need a new kind of table to account for tiers. The simplest ways that jump to mind are: a)Add a "Tier" column and have each category sorted by tier (like, all "Physical" warrior skills are grouped together, but the all 1st-tier ones are at the category's top, etc.). b)Cut the "Slot skills" table into 3 tables, aka tier 1 slots, tier 2 slots, tier 3 slots. c)Divide the "Utility" table into it's subcategories (healing, utility, elites) and sort these primarily by tier. I'd vote for A or C, what do you guys think? --Xhosant 14:42, 27 June 2012 (UTC)

Tiers are directly linked to the skill point cost - 1 sp = tier 1, 3 sp = tier 2, 6 sp = tier 3. I don't think there's any need to modify the tables for this, since the tier can be inferred from the sp column. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 16:25, 27 June 2012 (UTC)

Adding underwater usability[edit]

Wouldn't it be neat to add the "not usable underwater" icon to all the skill lists, so you can see at first glance which skills are usable underwater and which are not? Next to skill points and recharge. Gnarf 14:56, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

I was thinking same thing, only between Type and Skill Point. Either way, a Water Drop for useable underwater or a Water Drop with an X for no useable may work better than just listing which are useable after elites. Or just the Xed version for not useable. The Water Drop without an X for useable would be nice so you know that the skill is confirmed to work underwater, since currently skills unknown to work underwater and skills that work underwater both have no icon. But in the long run I guess that won't matter as much. BioMasterZap 15:07, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
I had already brought this up here. Seems no one can agree on the best place to insert it. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 16:18, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
Well personal I'd like to see it near type since it is a classification like types. After would probably look nicer than before. And it should get own column so you can divide water and land only skills. TBH, I think it would be better to just pick a spot and add it. Anywhere on the skill list would be better than its own section below. BioMasterZap 02:40, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
Alright, I'm posting an update over on the CommPort. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 04:21, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

Invisible Skill Stats[edit]

It seems that there are several skill stats that aren't shown in the game UI but are nonetheless broadly applicable and rather important, including:

  • Movement Type (movement allowed while casting, movement prohibited while casting, skill forces movement, or movement interrupts skill)
  • Activation Time
    • Whether the skill can be cast in the middle of other skills (unless this is the same as having 0 activation time)
  • Channeling (whether skill effect occurs at end of activation time or spread out across activation, I guess)

Does the game document these things somewhere that I've missed? If not, should we somehow record them on the wiki anyway? --75.51.175.47 06:02, 23 September 2012 (UTC)

A new section for new skills[edit]

I think it is necessary to add a new section with added skills in the game (for example Antitoxin spray). In the future, these skills will also be added there. Yutaka_Matsushige 12:55, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

That would be more like trivia on individual skill pages. Maybe a List of common skills for skills available to all professions.--Relyk ~ talk < 13:19, 6 November 2013 (UTC)
