There's definitely a "Murellow" (one r, two ls) enemy in the game, as of the stress test. Does anyone have confirmation of it being spelled with two rs and one l? Manifold User Manifold Neptune.jpg 01:49, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

Yep - [1] - the pet was Murrelow in the stress test. One of the two is probably a typo, but since this is a completely original name, we can't tell which one is right. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 03:06, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
HIDEOUS! (looks like Mexican sewer rats on steroids) 108.173.188.193 03:26, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
Looks like Murellow (2 l's) is official. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 18:41, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

That article seems to conflict with the names origin cited in the triva This Coltaine 19:39, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

More recent source should be more reliable, especially if it's published in official blog (link provided by Dr Ishmael above). Mediggo 19:46, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
I don't really see how the two sources conflict. Felix Omni Signature.png 21:54, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
The original trivia claimed it was named after a former ANet employee. The blog never mentions the employee and says the name came from discussing fungus-sounding names. Considering the article was specifically focused on how the name came about, the absence of anything supporting the previous trivia tells us that it was merely an incorrect assumption. --Thervold 22:09, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
I looked at the old trivia's reference earlier today, and Mr. Morello never outright confirmed that it was named after him, although he never denied the other user's assumption, either. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 22:21, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
Do we put stuff on the wiki that's based on assumption? I got told off for doing it once. Coltaine 22:24, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
There seems to be a bit of subjectiveness to trivia references. The trivia referencing Petra and Innkeeper Andrew to Ender's Game is an assumption, and there's been a disagreement if it belongs or not. Some editors will only accept confirmed facts being added, wheras other editors are more lenient as long as the words 'possibly' or 'probably' qualify the assumption. I'm not sure if there's an official GW2W stance on trivia yet. Looking at the history for Murellow, the old trivia was added, removed on the grounds that it was only an assumption, but then added back with a reference. However, as Ishmael pointed out, the reference neither confirmed nor denied the name origin. --Thervold 22:50, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
Okay, I'll ask Morello for a clearer response. Felix Omni Signature.png 03:08, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
Morello might have had something to do with murellows but I think the initial suggestion of it having something to do with his name is an assumption spawned from the bowels of LoL community. With his stated allergies, I don't think it's likely that his very name was the source of inspiration for murellow, but that he rather contributed to the idea of them carrying diseases, being rather sickly himself. The blog article rather clearly states that the source of inspiration for murellow's name comes from morels, a certain genus of mushrooms some people are allergic to. Of course ArenaNet may be paying behind-the-scenes homage to the former employee. I think we should rather ask them than the ex-employee. Mediggo 06:42, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
I don't know who on the staff would answer, now that Emily Diehl is gone. Felix Omni Signature.png 14:10, 24 May 2012 (UTC)

If you head to Dissun's Mine in the level 40-50 zone, Dredgehaunt Cliffs, you can find an NPC called "Murellow Trainer Rykskott [Merchant]" who has the following things to say about murellows. (Rykskott being similar to Morello's name "Ryan Scott")

"Best murellows in whole land, yes? Someday I leave this cave, form league of skritt! Er ...skritt and murellow. Legendary league! Someday will have enough gold to form league."
"Murellow not pretty, but very smart. Yes, murellows fine for league. Skritt band together, very smart together. With murellow next to skritt, smartest in whole Tyria! Legendary league of skritt!"

I can't say for sure if Riot's Morello is the original inspiration for the naming of murellows, but I think one can assume that they created this easter-egg of an npc to establish the connection between the two. Lord Vague 09:22, 15 September 2012 (UTC)

Locations[edit]

I found one in the Mount Maelstrom region of Quandry Scratch. It was just west of due north of the heart, near the brewer. KJZ 21:36, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
