As of PAX East 2011, you cannot use this skill to teleport up cliffs. I seems to teleport you as close as possible if there's an easy way to walk there (but you can go past fences and stuff) - Xinai

Damn, there goes the usefulness of this skill. --173.66.203.20 07:35, 24 April 2011 (UTC)

But using it to get down from a particulary high cliff should work, no? Free long-range ganking shadowsteps are incredibly useful in PvP? - Infinite - talk 08:48, 24 April 2011 (UTC)
being 5 initiative is not really free, so your not going to have a big chain off the bat.--BobbyT 23:36, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
By the time the skill lands, you would be back up to almost 8 initiative, unless I missed something. - Infinite - talk 00:19, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
i thought you only gain one initiative per second? --BobbyT User Talk: BobbyT 23:36, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
"to get down from a particulary high cliff" Unless the thing is immediate. - Infinite - talk 23:40, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
It's pretty quick in the skill video, at most it would be up to six by the time you would start the chain. Six is still down almost half of your entire initiative. –~=Ϛρѧякγ AHHH! (τѧιк) ←♥– 01:29, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
I wonder what would happen if you'd shoot it in an ooze. :o --you like that don't you..The Holy Dragons 14:26, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
Or any other creature, for that matter. Teddy Dan 15:43, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
Perhaps something not unlike Ride The Lightening?--Will Greyhawk 07:52, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
So you think a team of ritualists will shadow step in and drop a bunch of channeling magic urns after you use this skill? That's the only thing I've seen happen after someone used Ride the Lightning. 122.111.164.184 06:59, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
On a totally GW2-unrelated note; using a shadow step whilst holding an urn in GW1 makes you drop the urn at the location you shadow step from, not to. You leave the urn behind to drop there. - Infinite - talk 11:02, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
He's clearly talking about GW2, where you can fire a shortbow while holding an urn. — Raine Valen User Raine R.gif 21:15, 17 Jun 2011 (UTC)
By this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpbtQvgPZdA I can tell you, that one actually can teleport up cliffs. Look at 3:30!
Anyone know if there is a way to increase the range of this skill? I.E. a mes can increase the range of manipulation skills, and therefor it's tele.

Blinding Effect[edit]

I find the blinding effect to be pretty useless. This skill eats up so much initiative that is not compensated for by blinding 3-4 enemies; especially since the end effect has you porting in the middle of a group of enemies. The only real use for this skill is its shadowstep. This bow skill would be far more useful if you made some possible changes.

1. Replace the Blind effect with a Stealth effect and increase the initiative slightly. Having a viable stealth option on the bow.

or

2. Remove the blind effect and lower the initiative slightly. Making it a better mobility skill. --Clovis 16:35, 18 May 2012 (UTC)

Reflection?[edit]

How does it work, if it's shot into enemy's Feedback, or any other reflection skill?

This statement is wrong[edit]

"As a shadowstep, it can only send the player to locations they could reach without having to jump." A lot of usage of this skill in pvp is to get access to areas where you can't even get using jump (ofcourse in pve too but pvp example is more useful and obvious).
