Patch notes for maintenance?[edit]

We will be conducting maintenance tonight, from 12:00 AM (Midnight, Pacific Time), Tuesday, April 16 until approximately 2:00 AM (Pacific Time) Tuesday, April 16.

During this maintenance, players will be unable to login to the game.

We apologize for this inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

Regina Buenaobra, on official forums

At approximately 3 pm April 15 pacific time, ANet announced there would be a 2-hour server maintenance, beginning at midnight pacific time, which would be 7 AM UTC on the 16th. 75.37.20.250 15:58, 16 April 2013 (UTC)

Those are not patch notes. Patch notes reflect what changes with the game. That is, the executable and information contained in the .dat file. They did not release any patch notes stating content changes. Saying there is maintenance does not show any changes whatsoever in the .exe or the .dat file. -- Tarun 16:36, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
To say that there aren't any "patch notes" is misleading. People had to download a new client, the servers were reset (changing node locations and forcing people out of WvW), and ANet not only explained why, they did so several hours in advance. These might not have been "patch" notes, but the vast majority of players don't care that these are just "notes." It's a technical distinction only matters internally at ANet and to people who write or publish code for a living; the difference isn't important for the wiki.
The point of these pages is to inform and by removing the official announcement, we are doing a disservice to our readers. 75.36.182.128 08:41, 29 April 2013 (UTC)
The distinction is not particularly technical or esoteric. Patch notes answer the question "what changed?". An announcement of planned downtime answers the question "when and for how long is the server going down?". One of these is rather more likely than the other to still be interesting to players two weeks after the fact. --Felbryn 15:49, 29 April 2013 (UTC)

Possible Change[edit]

Just noticed; if you use the daily tracker (on the play screen right side) if seems to auto update itself now. What I mean is when you get say the Daily Kills to 100% it auto removes it and puts another daily tracker up onto the list. This is new (wasn't current as of February 2013), but I don't know what patch changed this. Also when Daily becomes 5/5 it was removed from my screen and went to monthly. Pretty cool update if you ask me. Lancour 13:09, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

It's always behaved that way for me. If you have gone into your achievements and checked an achievement to be tracked, that overrides this behavior, and the checked achievement will always display, even after it reaches 100%. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 13:44, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
I also feel that this was changed since the February update, but it's been like that since before this particular update. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 03:01, 19 April 2013 (UTC)
I always manually selected the dailies to display (except of course the day I noticed it); did not know about the override feature (my bad: ignore me). Lancour 13:23, 19 April 2013 (UTC)
