During template[edit]

Any particular reason that the {{during}} template was removed? If it's not there, it suggests that it's there even when the event's not active. Sunlion (talk) 21:37, 3 October 2020 (UTC)

Same applies for some bounties and other edited npcs. If an npc requires an event to appear, the template shouldn't be removed. ~SimeUser Sime Maraca Choya.pngTalk 21:40, 3 October 2020 (UTC)
Since this issue isn't exclusive to this NPC, maybe we should move it to the user in question's talk page? Sunlion (talk) 21:55, 3 October 2020 (UTC)
I would probably just revert since that's what the template is for, but sure go ahead. Not on pc atm and typing is hard. ~SimeUser Sime Maraca Choya.pngTalk 22:07, 3 October 2020 (UTC)
If it's a unique NPC (currently) that only spawns in one place during one specific event, there's no point in listing that it appears during event if both the location(s) and event are listed on the page already. The template is more for common NPCs that appear both normally and during events across the world. Nero9012 (talk) 22:33, 3 October 2020 (UTC)
That's not true though and listing the template still has a merit, there is zero reason to remove it. If the npc needs an event to appear, then there should always be the template on its page to clearly indicate the requirement, just briefly mentioning it in the intro is not enough and it having only one location and one event is not intuitive for people not knowledgeable about wiki customs. Otherwise the page is misleading, as the npcs is never there unless the event is started. The template wasn't created only for common npcs. ~SimeUser Sime Maraca Choya.pngTalk 22:38, 3 October 2020 (UTC)
Well I've never seen it used for instances such as this before. 95% of cases such as this one had been going on without the template so I was just following consistency as I saw it. If you care that much about combing through all the events-only NPCs that clearly spawn only during specific events only to add the tag, then go for it. I personally think it's plenty clear enough without it. Nero9012 (talk) 22:46, 3 October 2020 (UTC)
If it isn't broken, there is no need to fix it. "Consistency" is a hit or miss because there are dozens different people editing and not everyone knows about the templates and many articles are very old and in need of updates to bring them up to quality of the newer ones. ~SimeUser Sime Maraca Choya.pngTalk 22:50, 3 October 2020 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I've been trying to update those pages for a while now, but there is hundreds of them, so it takes quite some time. Also, a lot of pages don't use {{upscaled}}, so that's another thing that needs to be fixed and a bot sweep for most of those pages probably wouldn't work as they aren't always consistent in the terms used for notes about events and scaling. Sunlion (talk) 22:56, 3 October 2020 (UTC)

I would argue to always add the during template if the NPC is event only.
  1. It is the quickest indicator on the page (the intro text is what I would personally read last, after notes or such).
  2. If the NPC is added to a new location I would not assume the person to add it, that they check the previous location is event only to add {{during}}. —Kvothe (talk) 11:47, 4 October 2020 (UTC)
