Merge[edit]

I think we should combine the information here with Bag:

  • Half or more of the information is the same on both articles.
  • It requires more work for players to figure out which article has the details they want.
  • If size is an issue, we can use a subpage and/or partially hidden tables.

I put this page together specificaly for crafting of Tailor bags. It was created so that the main Tailor page could link to it as a 'here are the detailed bag recipes' page.
I picture a similar page for Sacks and Boxes (Leatherworker and Armorsmith). I'd favor 3 profession specific pages, one for each of the 'bag-like' crafting professions, and one more general page for the users who consume (ahem, use) the bags. We could list all the full detail on the general bags page, but I feel that would be in the 'Way too much content to be useful' category. If you like, we can omit the crafting detail from the general bags page entirely and instead just refer the user to the respective pages. —Torrenal 05:04, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
I disagree. If one is just interested in adding to inventory storage, this requires looking in three places for details. Using generic recipes, it's not that much content. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 05:15, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
last I checked, you could not have 3 simultaneous crafting professions. Including leatherworker recipes on a page linked to for tailor recipes will generate confusion. I'm looking at listing final recipes here, that will be 6 bag sizes * 3 bag types * 3 professions -> 54 recipes, assuming no new bag types, most of which the average user can't craft. It'd be a different matter if all the recipes would be craftable, but they won't be. You said we could use sub pages. This is that sub-page. It is where tailors looking to craft bags are brought to. They find the link here: Tailor#Bags. It is not proper for that link to bring them to non-tailor recipes. —Torrenal 13:46, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
You can have two simultaneous disciplines (and switch among three), but that's not my point: if someone wants to decide which two disciplines, they should be able to easily compare the different inventory slot tools without visiting three articles. Also, if anyone who just wants to buy inventory slots from Black Lion doesn't care about who makes what, but only if there's a meaningful (i.e. gameplay) difference between different bags; that's more easily seen in a single article.
I don't have a problem with Tailor, smiths, and l-worker articles linking to the same section on Bags because I think the key point is that all these items have more in common than not — except for the recipes, many of the details are the same. You are suggesting that who makes them is a fundamental distinction almost requiring separate articles. There might be 54 total recipes, but we shouldn't list any of them on the article imo, only the generics (we aren't going to list every possible Sword formula on Sword, are we?). If people want a specific recipe, they can visit the specific article page, which is linked from the category articles and via the type of combo tables you, I, and others have been creating.
(If we do end up with multiple articles, might I suggest: Bag (tailor) instead? The idea of splitting is based on the discipline; all "bags" in the generic sense can be crafted (and I suppose that we might find non-crafted bags from karma vendors, too). We might even reconsider the name, perhaps, "Inventory slot items" instead of "Bag," since there's no particular reason to call these "bags" rather than "Packs.")
At this point, I would like to wait a week or two to see what other people think. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 17:49, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
I think what we have on the recipe pages (e.g. Tailor/Jute_Recipes#Bags) is sufficient and we don't need a tailor-specific bags page. I would go with merging. — Burfo User Burfo avatar.jpg 02:58, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
Agreed. Merge em! Wombatt 03:08, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
I haven't read this conversation, but enough time has passed. The information is all on Tailor and bag... good to merge now? -Xu Davella 16:36, 3 October 2012 (UTC)

Verification[edit]

Oiled and Craftsman's will need to be kept separate, in that case, they use different levels of bone, at least in the first couple levels.Wombatt 03:44, 28 June 2012 (UTC)

As my intent was limit this only to Tailor crafting items, I would hope this particular issue could remain moot. —Torrenal 05:04, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
