Seems like ANet solves underwater combat by making different skills... --AdventurerPotatoe User AdventurerPotatoe sigimage.gif - 17:11, 12 March 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, in the demo when you entered water it switches your skill bar out for another one. Also one of the devs said that underwater combat was complete, but they were not ready to reveal it yet. - Giant Nuker 19:23, 12 March 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the info! Detom10 19:25, 12 March 2011 (UTC)

Deletion?[edit]

I think that this shouldnt be deleted, but renamed to "Aquatic Weapon Slot", it is a slot, not a weapon, right? --AdventurerPotatoe User AdventurerPotatoe sigimage.gif - 14:31, 13 March 2011 (UTC)

I totally agree! Detom10 14:40, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
We know that it's a slot, we don't know whether weapons that would otherwise be equipped in their normal slots could also go into the aquatic weapon slot. I'd keep the article's name as it is for the moment. (Xu Davella 00:46, 14 March 2011 (UTC))
it's very likely that ranged weapons will be unavailable145.7.224.89 20:12, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
I'd guess that ANY two-handed weapons (also probs pistols) would be unavailable, since it has only one hand per set. Also: derp. Zolann The IrreverentUser Zolann The Irreverent Mysterious Summoning Stone.png 21:47, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
I asked about this on Twitter but apparently they're keeping hushed about it. --ஸ Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 21:50, 13 April 2011 (UTC)

On this interview [1]at guildmag it states that aquatic weapons are "a unique set of weapons" so you might want to add that to the page.

Latest GuildMag issue[edit]

So yeah, in the latest GuildMag issue they have an interview with Eric Flannum inside stating the facts about the aquatic weapons. Perhaps this article should include that info? 84.80.151.136 15:19, 30 May 2011 (UTC) The preceding unsigned comment was added by 84.80.151.136 (talk) at 15:19, 30 May 2011 (UTC).

1. Where is that? :P
2. We still havent renamed this, most people seemed to agree on it, but it never happened. --AdventurerPotatoe Engineer tango icon 20px.png - 16:14, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
I think he ment this [2] It's the same link as the one above this section. Not much info though. --RegentUser Regent Bone Horror.jpg 17:47, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
AdventurerPotatoe, it probably hasn't been changed because its more than just a slot. According to what's said there, it automatically switches when you go underwater. It's not hindering ability, as it only changes your 5 weapon skills. Even the Engy and Ele aren't at a disadvantage. The Engy works by utilities, and we've seen revealed skill art from an artist's blog that were shortly after taken down when we realized they were underwater skills (check the talk page too), so even the elementalist gets their 4 elements to switch. There's gotta be weapons for it, still working by profession. ~~ User Kiomadoushi sig.png Kiomadoushi 18:12, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
Shouldn't we add that they are a unique set of weapons? (source at the top of this section)88.108.138.5 15:42, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
@Kiomadoushi, your use of Engy as an abbrevation for the Engineer scares the fuck outta me...--82.95.139.103 06:43, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
lol, yeah I keep mistaking it as short-hand for energy. Engi is also used as well. --Xu Davella 12:50, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

Aquatic Weapons[edit]

Harpoon gun? (Sheesh, Photobucket as THE WORST urls on web) [3]

Dunno what kind of weapon this is: [4]

Speer? [5]

Cirdan User cirdan signature.png 16:43, 24 June 2011 (UTC)

From to top bottom:
  • Spear
  • Spear
  • Harpoon gun
There's really only three types; the Trident type aquatic weapon concludes the above. - Infinite - talk 08:50, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
Do you mean bottom to top? Because to me it looks like the top one is a harpoon gun and the bottom a spear Thering 14:29, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
I swear the order used to be... But yes. I guess I did. - Infinite - talk 11:09, 29 June 2011 (UTC)

land skills + water?[edit]

what would happen if someone used a ground target land skill eg meteor shower on water?

would it explode on contact, carry on and explode on the bottom of the body of water or extinguish and float down? has anyone tried this? Getefix 17:31, 3 September 2011 (UTC)

Dont think you can target swimable water with ground targeting skills. Though, I've seen ground targeted skills being use on water not deep enough to swim inside. --AdventurerPotatoe User AdventurerPotatoe Engineer tango icon 200px.png - 16:46, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure that underwater skills use more appropriate AoE (i.e. spheres instead of circles.) Aqua (T|C) 00:12, 3 November 2011 (UTC)

Renaming in the Press Beta[edit]

I'm a little confused here, there are multiple videos that I've seen that call the "spear", the melee aquatic weapon, a "harpoon" and the "harpoon gun", the ranged aquatic weapon, has become a "speargun". I feel as if this has caused a lot of edits over edits that I myself have even partaken of. So can we reach a consensus on which weapons are called what? --Sobki 22 February 2012

I'm guessing there's still a lot of inconsistencies in the game. The skill window might say "harpoon" and "speargun" but the traits refer to "spears" and "harpoon guns". We should probably just leave them as is until there's more information. --Gandlethorpe 08:50, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
Yeah that's what I've been trying to do, keep them Spear and Harpoon gun but whenever I edit it to that people keep changing it to what the beta says but not changing all references to them, for instance this page will say spear but say the thief page calls it a harpoon, I feel we need to be consistent and only call them one thing, and lock that so it doesn't keep on changing every day or so. --Sobki 10:20, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
