Talk:Aim-Assisted Rocket

As it's not completely consistent with the list of projectiles used by Engineers, it might be worth adding the curated list of skills this trait interacts with. Inspired by testing reddit thread: https://old.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/wgjg4k/engineer_missile_weapons/

That link was extremely useful! Info should go into the official page somehow. Posting here for reference, all credit to the original author:

Since the Aug 2 patch, Aim-Assisted Rocket "only activates on hits from missile weapons". Of course Anet hasn't given us any inkling of what a "missile weapon" is, not that I've seen. So I just spent a few hours at the golem (and some underwater) with autoattacks off, and tested basically every Engineer skill to see if it procs AAR. Here's what I got:
   Weapon Skills:
Rifle Skills: all EXCEPT Blunderbuss (2) and Jump Shot (5)
Pistol Skills: all EXCEPT Blowtorch (4)
       Mace: Rocket Fist Prototype (3)
Shield: Throw Shield (Shield 5 flip skill)
       Hammer: none
       Sword: none
Harpoon Gun: All. NOTE: on Timed Charge (4), the AAR fires on the initial shot and not the detonation.
   Kit Skills:
       Grenade Kit Skills: all
       Mortar Kit Skills: all
       Bomb kit: none
       Tool Kit: none
Elixir Gun: Tranq Dart (1), Glob Shot (2), Super Elixir (5)
Flamethrower: Flame Blast (2), Napalm (4)
Heal Kit: none (had to try lol)
       Elixir X:
           Juggernaut: Throw Boulder (4)
Tornado: Electrified Tornado (1), looks like 2-4? Procs off cooldown basically.
           Plague (Underwater): None
Whirlpool (Underwater): Hard to get a good test here.
   Utility Skills:
Throw Mine (but not Detonate flip skill)
Launch Wall (flip skill from Photon Wall)
   Toolbelt Skills (including Mech skills):
       Launch Personal Battering Ram
       Throw Wrench (Tool Kit)
       Toss Elixir C, R, B, U, S, X (all Elixirs)
       Grenade Barrage (Grenade Kit)
       Rocket (Rocket Turret)
       Surprise Shot (Rifle Turret)
       Throw Napalm (Flame Turret)
       Net Attack (Net Turret)
       Blade Burst (Laser Disk)
Spark Revolver (Mech w/ Jade Cannons)
Core Reactor Shot (Mech w/ Variable Mass Distributor)
       Jade Mortar (Mech w/Jade Dynamo)
   Photon Forge Skills:
       Photon Blitz (Forge 4)
Light Strike (Forge 1) - with Crystal Configuration: Storm traited
   Elite Skills: None
   Finishers:
       Whirl: Brutal Bolts (Lightning)
   Mech at half rate
Jade Energy Shot (Mech AA with Jade Cannons)
Not tested: * Racial Skills * Combo finishers. Brutal Bolts seems to work. * Many trait-proc skills * Elixir X Whirlpool (got fed up with RNG and long cooldown)

Observations regarding Aim Assisted Rocket[edit]

I've noticed that the Holosmith sword skill #2 (Refraction Cutter) and toolbelt skill (Particle Accelerator) were omitted from the list of skills affected by this trait, despite them being projectiles that reliably proc the trait.

I've also discovered an anomaly that made the projectiles that fire as a result of executing Whirl Finishers in a Combo Field proc the AAR trait. This means Scrappers using a hammer (Specifically Electro-Whirl and potentially Shredder Gyro) can reliably proc this trait without any investment in projectiles, as long as they have a field to combo with. I've also noticed that Whirl Finisher projectiles proc this trait even if the projectiles are not meant to target hostile creatures (Such as Healing Bolts and Cleansing Bolts in Water and Light fields respectively).
