Is this one of the leaked images or was it released officially? - Doodleplex 22:23, 3 August 2017 (UTC)

That's most likely the leaked one, half the map was inaccessible in the demo and there was a red border around the map. Also pretty sure anet didn't release any map maps. --Doctor Refrence (talk) 22:28, 3 August 2017 (UTC)
Wait the demo is live? =o I thought it wasn't until next weekend. - Doodleplex 22:35, 3 August 2017 (UTC)
They mean the demo the official partners played. —Ventriloquist 22:41, 3 August 2017 (UTC)
I believe in the demo played by official partners, the map was called "Crystal Oasis". This image is simply called "Oasis", so my money is on leak. --Idris (talk) 22:43, 3 August 2017 (UTC)
Yes, it's called the Crystal Oasis. This map is definitely a leaked one. —Ventriloquist 22:45, 3 August 2017 (UTC)
I've replaced it with a map shown by one of the partners. —Ventriloquist 23:21, 3 August 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for the keen eyes on this. G R E E N E R 23:38, 3 August 2017 (UTC)

Should these images contain the section boundaries or should that be a separate image? I've been working on an algorithm using OpenCV to auto-detect the waypoints in the maps, and use those as automated calibration points for the template overlay, but a "fresh" (un layered) image is needed for this. I've seen other maps posted with the sections so I followed suit, just wanted to make sure I was doing the map sections correctly. Even if the name on this one stays, It'd be nice if there was a 'clean' version of the map that didn't have section boundaries for people to doctor up. Also, preferences on line color(s) and/or aliasing and line capping? - Fernferret (talk) 04:09, 4 October 2017 (UTC)

I'm going to be honest here; the map is not of any use if it hasn't got the markers from ingame on it.
I'm currently putting together the black+red locator maps (like File:The Svanir Hive locator.svg), which should have all the styling information you need within them. The way I've done it before with the zone maps is to upload two version to the same file, one with and one without the boundaries, that way we can abandon the sectors later if we want. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 06:19, 4 October 2017 (UTC)
I removed all the UI elements I could after reading the wiki guidelines about screenshots suggesting that everything be as clean as possible. I couldn't find any style guidelines relating specifically to maps so I just winged it. If it's decided all wiki maps should have POIs/Hearts etc then we can certainly replace these maps, I figured since most pages have an interactive map on them now it wasn't a big deal though. When we say UI elements (with respect to the world map) we mean the "eye" symbol in the bottom left, the "layer control" on the bottom right, and the world completion tracker in the top-left corner. Everything else should be displayed (e.g. hearts, poi, vistas, waypoints, masteries, miscellaneous icons including dungeons/mounts etc). -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 17:34, 4 October 2017 (UTC)
Ah okay gotcha, I can work away at it in my spare time re-stitching the maps with the icons turned on unless someone else beats me to it. Snpbond (talk) 20:31, 4 October 2017 (UTC)
