Captain Farrus's First Journal is a book located inside a tent at Memory's Hollow.
Our first scouting party returned intact, but they were shaken up. The environment here is hostile, and several were injured just climbing through what passes for bushes here. The sight of the enemy was even more troubling; we knew there would be more of them here, but actually seeing them in numbers has a stronger effect. We're putting their report to good use, though. Havard is doing an admirable job heading up our scouting—she'll be in line for a promotion if we ever make it back.
We met the enemy not far from our camp in the early morning hours. We drove them back, but at significant cost; with the limited number of soldiers we have here, we'll be reduced to nothing if we continue at this rate. We need to adapt our strategy if we're going to have any hope of victory here.
We're running low on supplies now, and it's unclear how much longer we can hold out. Rationing what we have has helped, but unless we're able to find a real food source, our days are numbered. We've been unable to contact the Astral Ward or to find any way back to Tyria on our own.
