Ogre Pet Whistle is summon consumable that allows the player to spawn a random creature that fights with the player for 2 minutes. Using the item will apply the  Ogre Pet Whistle effect, which indicates the cooldown until Ogre Pet Whistle can be used again.

Acquisition

• Available at Newglade Kraal only after Escort Gortho's expedition to Bronzeglade Crossing (59) and Help the ogres defend Bronzeglade Crossing from the Flame Legion (60).

Possible summons

The Ogre Pet Whistle summons one of the following creatures randomly:

Black Bear

• Paw Swipe
  • Basic melee attack.
• Brutal Mauling
  • Hits twice.
  • ₂ Bleeding per hit.

Black Raptor

Crimson Moa

• Peck
  • Basic melee attack.
• Deadly Kick
  • Melee attack that causes ₃ Vulnerability.

Hawkeye Griffon

• Swoop
  • Basic attack while flying.
• Slash
  • Basic melee attack, hits twice.
• Shred
  • Causes  Knockback.
• Fly
  • No duration, chance to end from taking direct damage.

Hyena

• Bite
  • Basic melee attack.
• Leap
  • Basic melee attack.
• Hamstring
  • Leaps on target causing  cripple.

Melandru's Stalker

• Bite
  • Basic melee attack.
• Slash
  • Basic melee attack.
• Pounce
  • Stealths itself, then leaps out at its target.

Rock Dog

Whiptail Devourer

Notes

• Use of this item is on a 30-minute cooldown; the maximum duration of the pet is actually only 2 minutes, despite the item description stating that the ogre pet will last 5 minutes. This cooldown does not reset upon death.
• The summoned ogre pet is set to the local effective level and will not be scaled up or down further, even when moving to other areas.
• The cooldown and the ability to summon the ogre pet is not affected by the use of other objects that create NPCs, such as the Fire Elemental Powder.
• If used underwater the item will be consumed and go on cooldown, but no pet will be summoned.
• This item cannot be used in WvW or raids.

Trivia

• The 30 minute cooldown was added in the 21 January, 2014 release to improve server performance.
