Chessa

Chessa was an explorer from Ascalon that was hired by Curator Ruras along with Kane and Larano to act as a bodyguard for an expedition to find ancient Elonian artifacts for the Ascalon Athenaeum museum in Rin. He, along with the rest of the expeditionary crew, died from the sulfur in the Desolation. Post-death, they were hunted by Margonites, and later by Palawa Joko's ghost eaters. After Nightfall, the group had settled in the Lair of the Forgotten with other lost souls.

Dialogue[edit]

(only if Junundu Rising has finished)
We're using sulfur crystals to turn on the old Forgotten lures. With any luck, we'll be able to pit the junundu wurms against the Forged and Awakened camps!
(only if Junundu Rising hasn't started yet)
Care to keep me company for a while, friend? There's no better place to watch the Awakened and Forged claw each other's throats out.
Talk more option tango.png Why don't the ghosts fight them head-on?
Dunkoro would never let us hear the end of it. We're too few in number, so we're better off protecting the Lair.
Talk more option tango.png You still call it the Lair of the Forgotten, but it's full of ghosts.
A nod to the memory of Vissh Rakissh. His hatred is spent, but his statues still watch over us. Give his words a read, if you can.
Talk back option tango.png Anything else I should know?
Talk end option tango.png I'll watch for junundu.
Talk more option tango.png Awakened seem to be coming from the north, as well as the Bone Palace.
You'll see them coming from the Bonestrand, as well as Vabbi in the south. The march isn't long for them; undead don't need rest or food.

(always available)
Talk more option tango.png Have the ravines always been this poisonous?
As far as I remember. It's a little less lethal than it used to be, but still potent.
(only if Junundu Rising has finished)
Talk more option tango.png I've heard of using worms for bait, but baiting wurms?
It was Kane's idea. He's quite clever. If we're lucky, we'll kill two birds with one... wurm? Ugh, mixed idioms.

Talk end option tango.png I'll watch for junundu.
Talk more option tango.png How big do these junundu wurms get?
Huge! And they've been around since before my time. Keep an eye out for the Legendary Junundu Queen Ishraa, who hides in the Alkali Pan.
Talk back option tango.png Anything else I should know?
Talk end option tango.png I'll watch for junundu.
Talk more option tango.png The sulfur can't hurt ghosts, can it?
No, but some of us are ghosts thanks to the sulfur. A lot of pilgrims on their way to seek Ascension at Augury Rock died on their way through here, like Kyrisah and Meymo.
Talk more option tango.png It's unsettling to see ghosts that young.
It's a sad story. Their mother succumbed to the sulfur. The girls fell sick, and their father... well, he did what he thought was best for them. Dunkoro takes care of them now.

Talk more option tango.png Were you a pilgrim?
No, worse. I let Ruras hire me. Never again.

Notes[edit]

Gwwlogo.png The Guild Wars Wiki has an article on Chessa.
  • His dialogue options depend on whether Junundu Rising meta has taken place: before the event starts, players will have three options to choose from, after the event only two. However, within the second option, players will have two options after the event, not just one as prior. The initial text in the dialogue box differs as well.
