So I noticed your welcoming and saw that you've never been welcomed! So welcome (Is it pronounced "serious" by the way?) Syreas to the Guild Wars 2 Wiki! -User Eive Windgrace Harbinger of the Deceiver.png 02:28, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

Thank you very much! ^^ (It's pronounced "suh-ray-us") --Sy 02:40, 5 April 2011 (UTC) (Edit: "Syreas" is pronounced as above, but it was me messing with the vowels in "Sirius", which is my real name and pronounced 'serious'.)
So you're that Sirrah the Bookahs spoke of! :D - Infinite - talk 09:09, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
If you say so! I didn't know any Bookahs (or Asura) were mentioning me. --Sy 12:07, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
They talked about you here, near the bottom it has an audio clip titled "Sirrah?" - Infinite - talk 12:17, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
Ouch! I'd like to say I'm not that harsh. (But I'd be lying.) --Sy 12:20, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
^-^ I am that harsh. Hence I relate mostly to the asura. - Infinite - talk 12:21, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

Crow and Canary 2 move[edit]

Hello. I moved your image to [[:File:User_Syreas_Crow_and_Canary_2.jpg]] as a guild space does not exist on this wiki, as of yet. Thus I moved your image into user space. Cheers. Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 03:48, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

My mistake. Thanks for the correction! -Syreas

In the same light I have moved your recent image to File:User Syreas VersusIcon.png. Please don't forget to upload any images for personal use (and personal guild use!) with the prefix "User Syreas" in the future. Happy Wiki-ing! :) - Infinite - talk 20:52, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
I attempted to put a prefix in, but User:Syreas/"filename" did not work. Obviously I didn't know the appropriate prefix--thank you for telling me how to fix it! I'll make sure I keep uploaded files in my own userspace from now on ^^ Sy 21:08, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
Ah, as long as you don't include the slash, it should be fine. I.E. "User Syreas VersusIcon.png" instead of "User Syreas/VersusIcon.png". I hope that helps. :) - Infinite - talk 20:58, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
Also don't forget to sign your comments with 4 tidles (~~~~) ;) -- Cyan User Cyan Light sig.jpg 21:05, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
I'm such a noob :D Thanks guys Sy 21:08, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

Backstory[edit]

Hey there! Love your character's backstory. Ever play D&D before? You'd probably be good at it. Hope you don't mind, but I borrowed your format for my own user page. TaxBrony 20:07, 20 April 2012 (UTC)

Hey, Tax! Thanks for the compliments. I have, actually played D&D before. I do the same thing there as I did here--Syreas is actually a character I've written about for years (I want to eventually become a novelist) and to test my creativity, I try and fit his backstory into whatever medium I'm playing in, be it the Forgotten Realms or Tyrian Lore. I have no issue with you using the format (I learned how to code on this wiki by ripping people off myself and then messing around with it), but I'm wondering--do you have a guild? If not, or if you have one spare character who's not dedicated to a guild, you're welcome to join mine. --Sy-Talk 01:40, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
I was planning on making a guild with some friends, but from what I read, characters can actually join multiple guilds. There's a menu somewhere that lets you switch whatever guild you're currently representing. So, I could potentially join more than one. What's your guild called? I'm kind of picky about names... My character is also be based on one of my favorite D&D characters. Though his original backstory doesn't really translate well to the Guild Wars world, so I'll have to rewrite it. However, I'm not going to post the name yet since I'm paranoid about someone stealing it. I wanted to create a new account for GW2, which meant I couldn't link my old one and therefore reserve my character names. TaxBrony 02:47, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
Hmm. The impression I got was that each character was bound to a guild--which they could leave if they wished--but they couldn't just "switch" guilds. However, it's been a long time since I looked at the guild system, so it's entirely possible you could switch between any guild linked to your account. My guild is called Raven's Hollow, using it as both "a hollow in a tree" where a bird would nest, as well as the lesser-known definition of 'hollow' as "a reverberating sound" (Merriam-Webster), so it could be translated as "The Reverberation of Death," or the "Reverberation of Spirit" (as ravens are mythologically tied to both of these things). --Sy-Talk 03:26, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
Go to the "guild" wiki page and read the first paragraph. Maybe it's written poorly, but it says when a "character" logs in they can pick a guild to represent. It doesn't say "user". I dunno, that's just how I read it. And I like the guild name and the thought that went into it. Sign me up! EDIT: Screw it, I'll put down my character's name. If it does get taken, I have plenty more. TaxBrony 04:24, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
I read your backstory and loved it--welcome to our family! The Hollow will keep you safe from the Court, even as we move towards bringing down the Dragons. --Sy-Talk 22:51, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
Thanks. Tythanis doesn't need "protection" though. In fact, he plans to go after the Court once the dragons are taken of. He just needs brothers-in-arms. Will we have voice chat?
That was poorly phrased; I simply meant yes, safety in numbers. A lone warrior of any kind won't last long outnumbered. As of right now, no, we don't have anything set up in the way of voice chat, but we'll be looking into it--especially as our guild roster continues to expand. --Sy-Talk 01:17, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
What about Skype? It's free. TaxBrony 01:31, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
To interject with the "A lone warrior of any kind won't last long outnumbered." it should be noted that occasionally that lone warrior has no choice but to last just about long enough, in the hopes he might find an unexpected ally. I know my warrior had to. ;) - Infinite - talk 01:38, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
Indeed, Infinite, although you did find an ally in the end, I suppose? Lone warriors go out with a bang, but if their goals lie beyond that, they shall have a hard time reaching them. As for Skype, I've found the call quality degrades quickly the more people are in a call--and it glitches so that if you're talking, you can't hear other people--not in the sense you talk over them, but Skype will mute them so you don't realize they tried to say anything at all. We'll probably set up something on Xfire instead. --Sy-Talk 01:54, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
He found common sense first; retreat is not always a coward's move. He will find an ally in the future, though. I just can't write that part of his story yet (because it is influenced by the actual game). Skype should work just fine with groups up to 6 people, from my daily experience, but anything beyond that you wil have to start looking into Xfire, TeamSpeak, or Vent to have proper quality interactions. - Infinite - talk 02:15, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
Never said it was a coward's move. --Sy-Talk 02:26, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
Then we should shake hands, good sir. - Infinite - talk 02:28, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
Indeed /handshake --Sy-Talk 02:32, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
I'm not familiar with Xfire. Is it free? All the guilds I've ever been in have used Vent. - TaxBrony 18:23, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
Xfire is free, yes. The probably with Vent, as I understand it, is that you have to pay to host the chat channel everyone uses; I don't think this is the case with Xfire. However, Vent is also up for consideration. Like I said, we're only just looking into it at the moment and I'll discuss is with my fellow officers before a final decision is made. --Sy-Talk 21:59, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
You're right about Vent requiring a paid host. You would rent a server from one of their licensed providers. Just looking around, the cheapest one I found wanted $0.30/slot per month. So a server with up to 20 players at a time would cost $6.00/month. Not sure how many slots you'd want to pay for, but it doesn't seem that expensive. No rush in figuring this stuff out, just curious. - TaxBrony 22:35, 22 April 2012 (UTC)

No, it's not really expensive, but why pay anything when you could get a server for free? If we find that Xfire isn't actually free, or is a substantial dip in quality below Ventrilo, it's not a large matter of switching over. I doubt we'll have anything up in time for this upcoming beta--although you never know--but we have plenty of time to explore before launch. --Sy-Talk 23:45, 22 April 2012 (UTC)

Agreed. - TaxBrony 23:54, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
In case you're curious, I updated my character's bio/backstory for his new race. TaxBrony 18:49, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
I noticed that, actually. You're a charr now. I think Ash Legion suits Vyuun better than the Grove would suit Tythanis--"your mind is my toy" reflects the charr mentality much more than the sylvari's. --Sy-Talk 23:42, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
I think so. I just regret not trying out the Charr before the beta ended. It would have helped me write his bio. Hopefully there will be another beta event soon. TaxBrony 23:16, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
I think you nailed it pretty well, especially the bit about killing your father and the in-fighting between legions. Still, I think there will be another beta in the end of the month--just two or three more weeks. --Sy-Talk 23:42, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
I didn't really mean that he killed his father yet, since I suspect that will be an option later in his personal story. I just meant that, because of his father, he had run-ins with gladiums in the past. Maybe I should reword that part. Depending how they expound on that backstory option in-game, he may or may not actually kill him. TaxBrony 23:50, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
Ah, I see. It did sound like he already done the deed by this point, but perhaps that was just me reading into it.--Sy-Talk 20:10, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
Nah, I agree with you. It definitely sounded like his father was dead the way I originally wrote it. I reworded that sentence to be clearer. TaxBrony 20:18, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

Crafting[edit]

Any thoughts/plans on crafting disciplines for your character? I was thinking about going Artificer and Cook myself. Apparently crafted items will look cool, but won't be any better or worse than looted items. - TaxBrony 03:09, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

Each of our cornerstones are going for complementary crafting disciplines... I believe I have Leatherworking and Huntsman at the moment; Lecan has Weaponsmithing and Armorsmithing, and Relius has not chosen yet. Perhaps I'll talk him into Tailor and Jeweler. --Sy-Talk 03:22, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
Additionally, I have a few comments on the quality of crafted weapons versus found/bought items, but this is not the place to discuss it. We'll talk about it during the beta weekend--which, by the way, we shall use Skype for. And just as an update: once the game actually launches, we shall use Ventrilo. Xfire will not meet the needs of a guild. --Sy-Talk 03:30, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
Sounds good. - TaxBrony 12:19, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
In case you haven't seen yet, the beta client is out. - TaxBrony 23:57, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
Yup. I knew it'd be about three days beforehand. Arenanet likes threes. --Sy-Talk 00:25, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
It is a magic number. I still haven't received an email telling me that it's out. I just noticed the new post here. - TaxBrony 00:27, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

World[edit]

Sorry for spamming your talk page so much, but now that the World list has been released, which one are we going to play on? - TaxBrony 02:39, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

I actually had a feeling you'd ask. Don't worry about it--I'd be curious too. I almost came here and posted my idea immediately, but I wanted to talk it over with my Cornerstones first. A unanimous decision says we'll be playing on Darkhaven. "Raven's Hollow in Darkhaven"--has a bit of a ring, don't you think? --Sy-Talk 02:52, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
I like it. - TaxBrony 03:32, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
Is there a private way I can send you my Skype info? - TaxBrony 03:52, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
Do you just want to send the info in-game? It'd take slightly longer to set up, but I don't want to post my email address here. There's no such thing as removing information when every revision is viewable. --Sy-Talk 03:54, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
Actually, you can email it to me. Go to my page and under "toolbox" find "e-mail this user". I have receiving emails enabled. --Sy-Talk 04:03, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

User images[edit]

Please remember that the format for user images is "User username filename.extension" and to tag them as user images by putting {{user image|Syreas}} in the summary field. Happy wiki-ing! - Infinite - talk 10:48, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

moved and templated your images. you will find them here: File:User Syreas Castle.png and [[:File:User Syreas Castle 2.png]]. I also updated the templates which made use of the first one to reflect the change. Please name and template any images you upload in the future correctly. — Rari User Rari sig.png 13:35, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

Stress Test[edit]

You guys going to be online for the stress test on Monday? I will, but I haven't seen any of you on Skype lately. - TaxBrony 23:16, 11 May 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, I think I've only been on Skype once since the beta. We'll all try to be on, but I was in one stress test before, and it was virtually unplayable. If we manage to get in at all, and the lag isn't incredibly severe, we'll try to meet up. - --Sy-Talk 04:35, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
Oh. Well, they're using the same build as in the beta, so getting to the same overflow/district will be a challenge. My plan is just to make my new character and play through his personal story. - TaxBrony 15:12, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
I wish you the best with that! I'll probably just waste time killing zombies XD --Sy-Talk 18:43, 12 May 2012 (UTC)

Release Date[edit]

Hey, have you seen any confirmation on GW2's official release date? Gamestop's website says next Tuesday, but that can't be right. There's still at least one more beta event left... TaxBrony 03:15, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

There is no official release date - retailers have to list some date to put in their databases, so they make something up. When it is announced, it will come directly from Anet, so follow @GuildWars2/@ArenaNet on twitter, like Guild Wars 2 on Facebook, etc. and you won't miss it. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 04:16, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

Home Server[edit]

Why the change to Tarnished Coast? - TaxBrony 00:15, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

That's the server that Foundation is on, it's the same size as Emhry Bay, and it has a more roleplaying-focused community for those who want to pursue that. --Sy-Talk 02:26, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
Cool beans. I think it's a cooler name anyway. - TaxBrony 02:49, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
