Is There Really Any Doubt?[edit]
- → moved from Talk:Mesmer
So from what we know, the unreleased class is a returning class. Let's see... Of the Guild Wars 1 Classes:
Warrior (Returning) Ranger (Returning) Monk (Amalgamated into Guardian) Necromancer (Returning) Mesmer Elementalist (Returning) Assassin (Reworked as Thief) Ritualist Paragon (Amalgamated into Guardian) Dervish
So we have the Mesmer, Ritualist, and Dervish as the three possible remaining classes that the unknown class could be. We know the classes have been released in order of playstyle complexity from simplest to most complex, so this class is the most complex in the game. We also know that the unknown class is a scholar, and the as-of-yet unattributed concept art suggests that the last class's color theme is purple. Yup, the unrevealed class has absolutely gotta be the Dervish. No question.Strill 07:49, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
- This page is for discussing revisions to the article, not speculation. Please move this section to your talk page if you wish to discuss the Mesmer's possible return. - 07:55, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
- What we know about the last profession is that it's a Scholar, it's a returning profession and if I remember correctly, it will have pets. In my opinion, if spirits may be considered as pets, there may be a chance of seeing the Ritualist as a returning profession. Although on the other hand there is the art of the purple fan lady which looks a lot like a Mesmer. --MageMontu 09:44, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
- I don't know about the pet part; we now know there's 4 types of pets. 4 out of 8 seems like a good balance. Also note that this statement was based on speculation regarding the term pets. - Infinite - talk 10:23, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
- We know: - The profession wil be one that aleady existed in the original Guild Wars. - It will be a scholar. - It won't have its origins in Cantha or Elona. So all professions except the Mesmer and the Monk can be ruled out and the Monk is VERY unlikely as there won't be a dedicated healer profession and many aspects of the Monk are implemented in the Guardian. So to my MIND there is no doubt that the 8th profession will be the Mesmer. | Corvus 11:07, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
- Funny and weird to know all these facts have been stated an infinite ammount of times before on this wiki. --The Holy Dragons 13:30, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

- Yes everyone is 99% sure the returning class is mesmer, but as long as it hasn't been oficially revealed by Anet themselves it is still considered speculation, since Anet has never come straight out and said, "dudes, it's totally gonna be the mesmer." Chances of you or me being wrong are practically nonexistant, but if there is any even tiny chance that it's not then we have to respect that. :)
- If we look at this quote "kind of complex and definitely plays differently than other professions", this can give evidence for mesmer as the gw1 mesmer was considered by Anet to be one of the hardest and complex gw1 professions and how its style of manipulation was different from the styles of other classes. Other evidences can be the "purple fan lady" concept art and that the rit is fused into guardian and the dervish with its Elonian and religious origins wouldn't truly fit well into the continent of Tyria in gw2 or with the charr for instance who dont believe in gods. But you are right, we can't fully assume until we actually know of the mesmer's ingame existance in gw2.--BookofTyria 00:27, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
