MF recipes[edit]

Mystic Forge recipes can use the {{recipe}} template, we specifically allowed for that when we overhauled it last week. {{mystic forge}} should only be used if the recipe is generic, i.e. if any of the items or quantities are not exactly specified. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 18:09, 3 July 2013 (UTC)

Ah, I see. I figured the mystic forge template looked a lot cleaner, and the recipe template looks barren and lacks visual appeal is why I made them all consistent again. We should overhaul the template to look better with mystic forge recipes if we're going to be using it like that. --RisingDusk (talk) 04:15, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
We deliberately changed the design so that it wouldn't look like an infobox anymore - that being one of the major complaints about it that we've had for well over a year now. It's supposed to look more like a simple table. What would you change about it? —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 05:09, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
I think having the icon in the recipe is much more attractive. I also really like how {{mystic forge}} doesn't have a lot of unused space, whereas {{recipe}} has a lot of unused real estate. furthermore, {{mystic forge}} looks a lot more compressed and I like the font size differential between the title and the text. All-in-all, {{mystic forge}} is just a lot easier on the eyes and more professional to view, whereas {{recipe}} looks incomplete. --RisingDusk (talk) 23:52, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
It looks compressed because it's missing all the information now in the {{recipe}} template. The recipe is on the item page, so there's no point in including the item icon when it's displayed in the infobox at the start of the page. We can develop a design for the recipe template that look professional but different from the infoboxes.--Relyk ~ talk < 00:04, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
What we're trying to say is that the template has been designed to practically display all of the available information that we have, and that the appearance has been setup by some people who, while adept at making templates, are somewhat lame at formatting. We can change the formatting, and indeed we could do with more feedback on it. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 08:12, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
e.g. we could set "min-width:250px" instead of "width:350px" for the recipe div, and if the list element is longer than the width of the box, it will expand to fit without taking a newline for the tt element. (yeah I agree that the box is currently too wide for most cases) -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 08:28, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
I like the idea of having it expand if needed, but starting it off much more condensed. I think if I had to condense my issue with it into a few points only, it would be too much unused whitespace (such as between the ingredients in the recipe) when used like in the MF exotic recipe case, and also that it doesn't look as neat. I know the latter is entirely subjective, but I think the mystic forge template looks really good with greater text size in the titles, the icon (even if redundant; I could concede this point), and also without the "Output qty." part. All of the exotic weapon recipes output only one thing, so that entire line is unnecessary. Also, as a side note, I think the abbreviation "qty" looks silly. We could change that line to say "Number Made" or something if terseness is a concern. --RisingDusk (talk) 22:43, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
