Very nice idea! ;) - Infinite - talk 15:49, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
- I disagree. We've had several problems/issues raised with welcome templates on GWW, even those with just plain text - extravagant boxes are more of a no-no. Instead of using a template, people would prefer you used a personalised message if you really want to welcome people. -- pling 22:09, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
- Ah, ok. Well, I was bored at work and decided to give it a shot. I'll refrain from using it in the future. Mat Cauthorn, The Botanist 23:33, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
- Is there perhaps, a way to automatically have these messages show on User Pages or User Talk Pages until a first, original edit is made, then? People won't feel left in the dark as it includes various links in one, simple information/automated welcome box. This could be written with instructions in the edit, on how the user can remove the box. Because, eventually, not all new accounts will be welcomed by the wiki community, simply because there will be too many. - Infinite - talk 01:09, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
- That particular thing isn't possible. However, the navbar on the left includes the useful links, and [[MediaWiki:Welcomecreation]] which comes up when a new account is registered can be changed (see gw1:MediaWiki:Welcomecreation - changing that was one of the solutions to the welcome-template issue on GWW). -- pling 16:10, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
