Active voice.[edit]
You got me thinking on the active/passive voice thing for scientific papers so I did some googling and yeah you are right. Active voice is the preferred way of writing scientific papers according to Nature Journal's how to write a paper article... In addition to other articles saying the same thing. Now i have to go yell at my PI, and set my colleagues strait lol. --Lania 18:57, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
Well, you got me thinking to. English Passive Wiki
- its usefulness is recognized in cases where the theme (receiver of the action) is more important than the agent
- Merriam–Webster's Dictionary of English Usage (1994) recommends the passive voice when identifying the object (receiver) of the action is more important than the subject (agent), and when the agent is unknown, unimportant, or not worth mentioning:
- The principal criticism against the passive voice is its potential for evasion of responsibility
- This may be used to foreground the patient, recipient, or other thematic role. ... semantic patient is the topic of on-going discussion ... to avoid specifying the agent of an action.
- There is general agreement that the passive voice is useful for emphasis, or when the receiver of the action is more important than the actor.
And the one you like:
- Agentless passives are common in scientific writing, where the agent may be irrelevant (e.g., The mixture was heated to 300°C).

Footprint Mapping of Caves[edit]
I plan to add lots of foot-print mapping of sub-terraneon areas which do not show up on the main map. See Eukaryan_Caves. Lets get that one right and then I'll proceed. - llandale 17:43, 7 October 2012 (UTC)
I made picture like this; please comment: - turned off user interface (cntl-shft-H). Show Map. alt-printscreen. Paste into MS-Word. format picture to crop. Paste into Paint. Adjust page to fit, save-as *.png. Upload PNG. Reference from page. - llandale 17:51, 7 October 2012 (UTC)
