nice. so this would let you list your guilds, but would it actually let you document your guild? --Moto Saxon 14:41, 22 October 2011 (UTC)

Documenting the guilds would be done in a sub-page of this new namespace. This allows leading (and documenting) multiple guilds without a problem. It also allows cross-wiki searching for guilds a certain user is in, because instead of searching for that who-knows-where information on the user page, you can simply hit the "guild" tab. In example; "User guild:Infinite/Dirge Warband" would effectively be the new location for this page and the links for The Roof Runners and The Seraphim would link to "User guild:Neil2250/The Roof Runners" and "User guild:The Holy Dragons/The Seraphim" respectively. - Infinite - talk 14:46, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
Looks good, although I have a couple of questions. How do you change leaderships? Could there be a quick link for this? What happens with members in case of move? (does everyone have to update their links, or can it be automatic in move?). I mean, moving a page, and fixing all links is probably a too advanced maneuver to expect randoms being able to perform without significant assistance. --Lensor (talk) 15:17, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
We could put up a "Help:Guilds" article to inform users of how to carry over leadership on the wiki, with additional notes to request assistance from one of the GW2W helpers (we could add a 5th category on the helper page specifically for this). If we leave the redirect in place, it wouldn't affect anyone detrimentally, however fixing the direct links should and could be clearly explained (with an image guide, if people would be happy with one) and thus fixing should have priority. If possible, it would be nice to have a bot fix the links automatically, but this would have to be developed and provided by someone with sufficient botting knowledge. If I had a crystal ball, I would preview how often leadership of user-documented guilds is permanently carried over, but alas. this initial draft goes by the assumption that guilds documented in this fashion are owned by users with no plans to change leadership at any time. Obviously, temporary off-duty guild leaders shouldn't bother moving the guild page over, but rather just put up a note to inform others of this event. - Infinite - talk 15:50, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
Yea, that makes sense. I do think major guilds do tend to rotate leadership more than minor "friends and family" guilds do, due to the sheer workload involved. So teh guilds that change more often, will probably also have more to move, and mode member links to update. I would say a random "large" guild change leadership on average once every two years (statistics obviously pulled out from my behind btw, just to make the argument).--Lensor (talk) 16:46, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
