Expandable?

Any thoughts on making the banner expandable to see all tips? Not sure if that is a good or horrible idea haha. ~ Fishrock ^(talk) 15:08, 6 September 2017 (UTC)

I had been planning to put a link to a page with the full list, but that seemed clunky. An expandable section may just be what this needs. First, I still need to work on the text, as writing things while exhausted leads to awkward slips. G R E E N E R 17:42, 6 September 2017 (UTC)

Looking for input

Given that I'd like to put this banner up as a site notice (which appears at the top of all pages until closed by the user), I'd appreciate as many eyes as possible looking over what I've written. Feedback from whether the messaging is on-point, to grammar and spelling mistakes, to things I've overlooked would be great.

If you'd like to cycle through how the banners would appear:

• Replace :{{#switch: {{#expr: {{#time: s | now }} mod 11 }}
• With {{#switch: 0 or {{#switch: 1 or {{#switch: 2 etc.
• Click Show Preview.

Temporarily Up

Can this be a thing at least for a few to let people know to upload screenshots as .jpgs? I feel like I'm drowning in .png files that need to be converted to .jpg. *cries and hides under the bed* - Do_odleplex 03:50, 30 September 2017 (UTC)

If it's a few people who are doing this, then going to talk pages would be more appropriate. If this is an ongoing, widespread issue, then perhaps we can use the site notice.

Describe to me exactly where the problem is happening. I'm looking at the move log, and not seeing moves being done which match. G R E E N E R 04:05, 30 September 2017 (UTC)

It's not moved files, it's uploads, lot of new people are uploading .png files for screenshots of maps and screenshots. It was just an idea to get to people to know to use .jpg so I don't have to ask them to change it afterwards, or more often than not, I wind up having to fix them later on. - Do_odleplex 04:10, 30 September 2017 (UTC)

First instead of being on the site notice, perhaps a temporary notice just on the form where things get uploaded, as I think it might be more impact there. Something along the lines of "Tips for new editors and uploaders: if you're uploading a screenshot, make sure it's in .jpg format or if you're uploading an icon, make sure it's in .png format. Also if you're uploading an NPC picture, check out the Shared Model Project to see if perhaps a picture of the NPC you have a picture of exists already." Since you said pictures > wall of text what about and ? Additionally I think it'd be pretty helpful to get the note up soon...I've found some .png files that are larger than some zone maps in terms of file size that were uploaded recently. D= - Do_odleplex 22:55, 22 October 2017 (UTC)
