Fishing with Fisher Tanya[edit]

Start of my fishing information.

Fishing MultiClock[edit]

I have developed a Fishing MultiClock (which includes Cantha, GMT/UTC & Local Time Clocks) to help know when to fish certain areas, particularly knowing when the next dawn/dusk period is going to occur as it only lasts for 5 minutes in real-time. The next section details more about why it is extremely useful.

Fishing Time[edit]

When fishing, one of the very first things you need to know is the current Tyrian/Canthan time and where you are in the current day/night cycle for the area where you are going to fish. This is because each type of fish has a time-of-day setting when it can be caught:

  • Any - Any time of day.
  • Dusk/Dawn - Only during either Dusk or Dawn in the relevant continent (Tyria or Cantha).
  • Day - Only during Day in the relevant continent (Tyria or Cantha).
  • Night - Only during Night in the relevant continent (Tyria or Cantha).

Current Tyrian/Canthan Time[edit]

You can set the In-game Clock time displayed in the bottom left-hand corner of the mini-map (officially known as the Compass) to Tyrian Time. Note: Cantha is the same time as Tyria, although the day-night cycle is different. To do this, select the Game Menu, then choose Options -> General Options (spanner icon - the default) -> User Interface -> In Game Clock and then use the drop-down list to select Tyrian Time.

Tyrian and Canthan Day-night cycle[edit]

The Day-night cycle for both Tyria and Cantha lasts for 2 hours real time, but day and night durations differ.

  • Tyria - 5 mins Dawn (5-6 am, 05:00-06:00), 70 mins Day, 5 mins Dusk (8-9 pm, 20:00-21:00), 40 mins Night.
  • Cantha - 5 mins Dawn (7-8 am, 07:00-08:00), 55 mins Day, 5 mins Dusk (7-8 pm, 19:00-20:00), 55 mins Night.

I have highlighted the Dawn and Dusk times, as they are the important ones to remember to know exactly where you are in the day-night cycle on any given map. Note: You only have 5 minutes (real-time) to catch any Dawn or Dusk fish, so if you do not manage to catch what you are hunting, you will have to wait between 40 mins and 70 mins (real-time) for the next dawn/dusk for that area to have another go!
