Is it possible to complete this meta achievement without finishing the Preparing the Eye achievement?

Yes, without unlocking the hidden "Mission Challenge: Candidate for Khan-Ur" you can skip one of the achievements. If you manage to get "Mission Challenge: Candidate for Khan-Ur" (by completing Forging Steel with all CMs active) you can skip 2 of the others.

Actually, the hidden achiev is not counted in the meta one, so you can skip only one. DJemba (talk) 12:12, 2 May 2020 (UTC)

Is that confirmed? A zero point achievement that doesn't count toward the mastery seems truly (and doubly!) pointless!--Jong1 (talk) 17:14, 2 May 2020 (UTC)

If anyone knows how, we need a separate "Steel and Fire Mastery" page. Not all the achievements on this page count towards the mastery i.e. Experimentation, Branded Trophy, Spa Day

Do the 2 new vendor purchases count towards the Preparing the Eye achievement?

Referring to this update note from today's episode 3 patch:
Added the ability to recruit vendors from Grothmar Valley and Bjora Marches to the Eye of the North if a player has the corresponding episode unlocked.
