Six True Gods?[edit]

So as not to spoil the plot of the previous guildwars, I won't mention the sixth god's name here, but now it must be decided whether the sixth god is included, as she is not really the patron god of any professions, and according to the movement of the world she might not be relevant at all... -- Frozzen 16:47, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

She is a god. Not a God in the sense that Dwayna, Melandru, Balthazar, Lyssa and Grenth are. She is a god in the sense that Dhuum, Menzies, maybe even the Great Destroyer is. That is how I see it, anyway, but to really see her relevance to Tyria, we should wait until Guild Wars 2. --Talk br12(talk) 17:26, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
Yeah. Just put a lot of the info we don't know off until beta in eight-ten months. Calor (t) 17:33, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
Abbadon was a true God, and I have the idea that She kept the same level, just took a different will. Coran Ironclaw 17:36, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
As there wasn't much information about the her godly status in EotN, I think we should play it safe and stick with just the 5. Until we get the beta and we know more about the lore of Guild Wars 2, at least. --Talk br12(talk) 17:40, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
I disagree. In GW:EN, people made no reference to the Five Gods whatsoever, the term "Six Gods" was exclusively used. Also, in the Path to Revelations and the quests preceding it, Kormir was held in equal esteem to the other five gods. And as for spoilers... anyone playing GW2 will find out about Kormir anyway. 250 years is more than long enough to establish herself among the pantheon. The Great Destroyer wasn't a god, Menzies is only a half-god and Dhuum and Abaddon are/were separated from the pantheon by the fact that they oppose(d) the gods. --Santax (talk · contribs) 22:27, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
I updated the page with my views before reading here. I was under the impression that a "true god"/goddess was one made in the old times (or whatever Mhenlo called it in the Throne of Secrets). However, a lot of people just lump the six benevolent gods/goddesses together as "true gods". I feel that's wrong. No one was worshipping Kormir for forever, so until she earns as much of the worship of the world as the Five, I don't consider her a true god. (That said, I houserule D&D gods and goddesses to have their power as a direct function of their worshipers.) -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png 22:18, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
The name "true gods" comes from the time when the Mursaat were worshipped by Krytans, and the term "true gods" was used by Krytans and Ascalonian refugees who did not believe the Mursaat to be divine (hence the move proposal). We do not have any evidence whatsoever to say that all the gods were created at the same time (indeed, all evidence points to the contrary) and we know for a fact that the current pantheon is not the first, nor will it (likely) be the last. --Santax (talk · contribs) 16:56, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
"I updated the page with my views before reading here." -- The main problem with that is not that you updated before reading here, but that you updated the page with your views rather than with facts. This page is full of speculation and completely unsubstantiated opinions without even a note that the "facts" being reported here are just unsourced speculation. If I'm mistaken, please, by all means, someone point out where in the official documentation or source material released by ArenaNet it says that Kormir either is or isn't a "true god". I'm going to edit to relabel unsourced speculation as such, but frankly this whole page probably shouldn't be here -- the suggestion it go under the Gods of Tyria page is a good one. --68.187.144.197 23:28, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Erm, how do we even know there will be the same classes in gw2, or even classes at all? We don't really know anything about gw2. --66.45.173.98 07:33, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

I really think Kormir should be included, as she has replaced Abbadon, who was a fully fleged god(Temple of the SIX gods!!!), and SHE retains all his power...removing grenth...he was also not a true god if kormir was not (He supplanted Dhuum) Killer Revan 01:28, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
The Temple of the Six Gods was only a recognised temple when Abaddon was actually a God - when the others disowned him, it became the Five Gods, and Abaddon became an outcast. Kormir replaced a nobody. Grenth is a True God - replacing a former god does not make him less of a god if that original guy was still one of the True.
Differences - Kormir replaced an outcasted god, one not recognised as a True God. Grenth replaced a True God. -- Brains12Talk 09:37, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
Well, according to GWW, Abaddon, Dhuum, Menzies, Kormir, the Great Dwarf, AND the Great Destroyer are all gods. I guess we need to list all of them here too, then --Gimmethegepgun 02:05, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

Professions[edit]

I think we should take off the patron god/godess of each profession of as the professions may not even appear in Guild Wars 2, and who's to say that the Gods will be patron gods of anyone. --Talk br12(talk) 17:45, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

i agree, since what you said on my talk page before... PLZ CLICK HERE ^Teo^ 18:27, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
I'd say leave them as notes for what it was like in GW1, and we can use that to expand later. -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png 22:30, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

monks under dwayna?[edit]

if i recal in the factions manuscripts it says balthy has smiting and prot monks under his wing. maybe i'm daft or there's a bit of news i missed but i don't think so

This is GW2, so we don't know yet. Lord Belar 22:17, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

exactly, we don't know yet. PLZ CLICK HERE ^Teo^ 22:19, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

Is this needed?[edit]

This appears to contain only GW1 info. We don't know about professions in GW2 yet, so this should probably be deleted. Lord Belar 21:03, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Gods still play a role in GW2. Calor (t) 21:12, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
It's kinda gods verses dragons... -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png 03:57, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
A lot more like sentient races v. dragons, with the gods being waterboys and girls. Calor (t) 03:58, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Deletion talk[edit]

i added a delete tag because it really isn't relevant to GW and we already have the God Nav templateArthurperson 21:59, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

An article still needs to exist to outline what the True Gods/Gods/Gods of Tyria are - a template isn't enough. Also, it is relevant to Guild Wars 2 as the gods are definately making a comback. Sure, some of the content here could be cleaned in relation to the descriptions or elements etc, but I think this page is still useful. --User Pling sig.png Plingggggg \ Talk 22:49, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
This article is one of the core articles for the lore, and is absolutely needed. Calor Talk 23:56, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Please delete this we already have articles like this gods, please make sure a similar article dosn't exist when you make a new one. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.47.41.80 (talkcontribs).

This article outlines all the gods, and there's nothing wrong with having this article. Please sign with four tildes (~). Calor Talk 01:35, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
Merge with Gods imo --User Pling sig.png pling | ggggg 12:51, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
