Almost certainly a reference imo. In the book the spyglass was constructed from Amber resin, the icon certainly resembles the front cover too. -Chieftain Alex 17:24, 13 December 2015 (UTC)

I thought of this as soon as I saw the name. When I saw the icon too it made me pretty much certain. And Anet do like putting references to other works in their games. Danikat (talk) 22:19, 29 June 2016 (UTC)
