This item just dropped for my necromancer. This article appears to be inaccurate in stating that it can only drop for a Mesmer. Didn't want to edit as I was unsure how to leave a comment with edit, and considering the errant note was created by a sysop I felt it best to leave feedback and have the edit performed by someone more experienced. --Petteri (talk) 04:15, 14 September 2021 (UTC)

I've double-checked that it drops for another profession (dropped for Guardian in Lornar Pass from the 4th random steam creature I killed) and added explicit notes about it. —Mojliggora (talk) 09:29, 7 June 2022 (UTC)

2023/05/10

Item would not drop for my engineer, ran around lake of lamentation for 5-10mins killed about a hundred steam creatures. I even did Twilight Arbor Aetherpath and tagged all three steam creatures there and still nothing. Swapped to my Mesmer and got it from the 3rd or 4th steam creature at lake of lamentation

It drops for other classes, just got it on my Warrior, but the droprate isn't anywhere close to 100%, it's more like 5%. I ran around the Lake killing all steam creatures till I had about 40 kills before it dropped. 04:29, 10 December 2023 (UTC)
