Talk:Snikk
New Trivia[edit]
An anon posted "Named after the Guild Wars 1 pro player by the same name." as trivia. I made a quick google search and couldn't find anyone by that tag for GW, much less someone which I would expect to come up often if they are a 'pro' player. Can anyone confirm this? -Darqam (talk) 17:07, 11 August 2016 (UTC)
- Eh, doubt its validity. Maybe a veteran Guild Wars player could recognize the name, in case the IP wasn't just vandalizing? —Ventriloquist 18:07, 11 August 2016 (UTC)
- I've gone ahead and removed it has I've tried quite in depth to find him/her but nothing at all. I can find virtually any pro pvp player from GW2 but nothing from this 1 pro player in GW1? If someone shows a piece of proof I'll gladly leave it there but until then I'll consider it vandalism. -Darqam (talk) 19:04, 11 August 2016 (UTC)
I edited it. There is little proof as team quitter forums are long gone and so is gwmemorial.net which kept all tournament results. A quick google netted me this http://cookierehabclinic.forumotion.com/t99-guild-wars-teams which shows snikk as the strategy caller for High Ping Victims which was a top10 guild for a long time. I figured the name was so unique (with the double k) it mustve been a reference. They do/did this more often. Feel free to remove it if you consider it bad proof.
- I think it's a coincidence, considering that there are a limited amount of names that fit the asura naming preference of short names with double letters. Also, it's a double pun: Scratch and Snikk sounds like Scratch and Sniff and Snikk by itself sounds like "sneak" which is what they are both doing. --Cali (talk) 09:56, 12 August 2016 (UTC)
- I remember Snikk from gw1. Wouldn't surprise me as former pro players get referenced a lot within both games.
