No, it seems to only apply to boons already on ("existing") the player. Having just tested it ingame, protection lasted 2 seconds, not 4. -Chieftain Alex 20:09, 24 May 2017 (UTC)

As an update, I just checked into this, and the Protection applied by Sand Squall does get extended now. Ara (talk) 22:06, 14 September 2020 (UTC)
