Asura anomaly[edit]

I had the PvE version chest piece drop last night and placed it on my female Asura. Problem is, it appears to be the male version - she just has the two straps to protect her "chest." I was quick to search for images of the female human version of this armor, which was when I realised (with some disappointment) that this must be a glitch. Will post a screenshot if I remember ^_^ — snogratUser Snograt signature.png 07:47, 9 October 2012 (UTC)

As promised -

Why is that wrong? Asura don't have the same anatomy as humans or norn. I don't think we even know for certain that they are mammals (although I would assume so since they don't appear to be cold-blooded, and they're certainly not avian). As far as armor goes, both genders of asura wear the exact same armor skin, that usually resembles the human male armor. Same goes for charr. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 12:29, 9 October 2012 (UTC)
Oh, I didn't know that. I was obviously assigning human-type sexual characteristics where there were none. Still seems wrong, though, as Asura are very human-like and (in my opinion) disturbingly child-like. — snogratUser Snograt signature.png 13:42, 9 October 2012 (UTC)
It's an easy assumption to make in a genre where non-human races nearly always have the same hyper-sexualized anatomy as humans do, but ArenaNet deliberately decided to buck that stale convention. Kristen Perry explained in an interview on the Anet blog why they took this path for the charr, and it's likely that the same sort of decision process applied to the asura back when they were developing EotN. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 13:57, 9 October 2012 (UTC)
